took my car today to pro muffler to get a custom cat back, well he put the car on the lift to check it out to see what the best route would be. our cars stock have a nice 3" from the header through the cat up to the resonator wich drops to 2 1/2" then about a foot before the muffler it goes into 2 1/4" then you have that huge muffler. any ways he got online and checked out magnaflows cat back so we could match it up. well what he did was just take and cut where it drops to 2 1/4 and ran 2 1/5" pipe. replaced the muffler with straight pipe and installed the factory tip so now i have 3" till the resonator then 2 1/2" the rest. the results: noticed little loss of low end and a big diffrence with mid to high, wich is cool cause i can launch a little better now. looks like factory but better than before the tip is up higher about 3/4" from the bumper insted of 2". the sound is a little loud though. all in all it cost me $40.00 out the door. magnaflow showed 8 hp. gain but he said this should be more because its straight through. feel free to contact me for any info.

the guy who did it said at least 8 hp. i would have to agree! it revs alot smoother now.

 

same thing i did. Feel more on the mid to high definately, I love it. But i agree with you, its really ******* loud and gets annoying.

so what he did was give you a complete 2.5" exhaust with the factory resonator and no rear muffler?

 

OMG thats gotta be LOUD as hell and very annoying and very raspy, your gonna be paying more in exhaust tickets than you did for the exhaust

 

ARIZONA is nothing like california when it comes to vehicles! i highly doubt that i will ever get cited here. but def. in cali. and i am going to get a muffler on it but its still fun driving around like this.

what does loud mean? lol. certain people have different definitions. my friend had a 04 mach 1 with no cats and strait pipes. that was amazing. i love the way it sounded. i know that my car will not sound like a v8 but anything remotely close to the srt-4s would be nice. there is a post on here of a guy with mpx exhaust. i love the way that sounded. if you could post a video clip that would be good. or even a sound clip because for 40 bucks im really considering this.

 

hahahahaha a mach 1 is soooooooooo different than the RL or the ss/sc. you cant even come close to compare it there. the srt's sounds is gonna be hard to come close to b/c of the fact that they have a turbo........ if you want close i have been told that the exhaust that i am selling is pretty damn close to their sound. ive been told that it sounds like a beast when i fly by someone im only askin ~ 120 for mine and it comes with a very very nice tip and the pipeing that goes over the axle to make the exhaust a full 2.5" exhaust

 

wow we got a salesman here. lol. just kidden. i was really considering taking the exhaust off now that i read that post. i want my car to be loud and obnoxious. if it gets to loud i will jus install a louder stereo system to drown it out for me on the inside. but hey if i do this and it sounds like crap i will keep you in mind.

 

Ok Second Day Having It Like This And I Actually Like It. Its Sound Like A Mean Srt In Low Rpms And Screems In The Higher Not To Mention The Crazy Back Firing Sound. When Down Shifting The Rumble Just Pours Out.

 

mines strait all the way through with a glasspack. sounds like a beast, grumbles like an srt4..

 

I was thinking about doing the same. I drive a lot on the highway between 3k to 4k rpm constant. Is the drone bearable on long constant drives?

 

with many srt-4 drivers that i have talked with the drone is abnoxious. i tried it before with the res on and i couldnt stand it and plus being in ca it attracted too many cops. i reccomend a magnaflow muffler (2.5") not because thats what i have / selling but because i have tried 3-4 different ways and that is what i found to be the best
