$35 at my dealer.

Question: Does anybody know if a chipless key would work in the doors? I think it would be a good idea to have one if I lock my keys in the car and need one to just get in.

you would be able to get the doors open but not start the car.

No.

The fob is about $60 and still requires programming. Price jumps to $90 if your car is an auto and has remote start. Those are dealership prices. You can get fobs for much cheaper on Ebay.

it is going to cost you about 120 w/ fob. the key has a chip in it. what you do is turn on your car with the key that works(spare key) then shut it off and quickly put the (unprogrammed key) in and start the vehicle. the fob has to be programed by the dealer ship.takes a couple of miniutes. also they cut the keys right there. i only know this because i work at a chevy dealer ship

Theres no chip in the key at all, at least for the 05's. I have a spare from the dealer, which is just a metal key from like Home Depot and it works fine for my car (which is auto and keyless entry)

What's that...$5 USD?

I was able to buy a factory key from ebay for like $12 and you can program the PassKey chip yourself as mentioned already.
