My brother bought one of these a few years ago and blasted it straight at me. It's hard to tell from the video, but it's extremely loud and almost blew me over

thats mean what they did to those people in that video! they didnt just have a laugh and leave, they came back repeaditly and annoyed them!

I have an aftermarket horn, but its not a frickin air horn... its one of those old school oogha horn, like from the 20's. I had a button switch mounted to the floor so I could stomp on it and not have to take my hand off the wheel. (and so my passengers wouldnt play with it) It was on its own circut directly off of the battery, so I didnt sacrafice the original horn. Everybody liked it! I would always blow it when I went to a friends house and what not so people knew it was me.
Fun times.

My friend has small dual air horn, it has a small compressor about the size of a wallet you mount under the hood, you could check into that... its not deafining loud, but it has high enough accustics...

I have been saying for a year (now that I drive through Dallas everyday) that I want a train horn for the Cobalt. Dallas has some of the dumbest, most inconsiderate drivers I have seen, and I have driven everywhere from Oklahoma to the East coast.

Any idea if there would be a good place to mount the train horn on the Cobalt???

6 YEAR OLD THREAD REVIVAL!!!!

And no, not all of them are direct replacement. You can get a factory horn from another GM car to work (like the dual tone ones used in the impala), or you can probably use the stock wiring for a set of hella supertones, but ones like an air horn would require a lot of work.

The revival guy probably searched and then resurrected the post.

Usually higher power electric horns require a 12 or thicker gauge wire directly connected to the battery. There is also usually a relay. Hella Supertones are a nice and easy upgrade. Subie guys do it ALL the time. You can bypass the relay if you want but it will be a bit quieter. I have them installed as a direct connect to the OEM horn harness and made custom brackets that bolt onto the lower bolts of the hood latch. They're easily seen through the grill (red behind black). There are some cool looking yellow versions out there. Beware of fakes. You want the real ones from Germany.

With big air horns you're gonna need a storage tank.

Edit: Just noticed I basically repeated what TommyP said. Doh.
