Question Cryo Frozen Tranny

I've seen that a few members have this done and would like to know where I could take it to have it done and how much does it cost. I'm looking to have it done and possibly reinforce the tranny housing. Any info would be great.

It strengthens the tranny significantly. I was talking to a clutch guy, and he said they built a 600 whp turbo VW R32. They used the stock tranny, but had it cryo frozen. As a test, they cryo froze the first 4 gears, and left 5th and 6th unfrozen. While out messin around on highway, wouldn't ya believe it, but it completely destroyed 5th gear. All the other gears looked like new.

There is a local place that does power steering system work, they also do cryo treatment. They did my rotors for me, and i'm going to have them do any other parts I get that move in the engine, pistons and valvetrain and such. No matter what, it can't hurt the parts, it can only make the material stronger.

They have to tear down the tranny to do it, so your looking at a hefty price on top of the cryo

i wouldnt trust anyone to tear down a tranny in this car if they dont know what they're doing. they suck ass to disassemble and you cant do it without the special tools

i know ive read somewere that there are places that can do an entire tranny, just give it to them and they freeze the whole thing. i could however change the front seal and axle seals after this is done though.

really? I'll hafta search for it and call around... I'm thinking doing a tranny build sometime... I'll get a used tranny... have it cryod, have the housing strengthened, and throw a DFX clutch in and then get some stage 2 axles... I'll be set, but thats a **** load of money. Hopefully i can get a used tranny for cheap

They can do that if there isnt any spring's in the tranny, there are however a few in ours which is why it has to be torn down before cryo
