'08 SS/TC Stock Exhaust

Does anyone know details on the stock exhaust on the SS/TC? I was looking at GM Accessories and noticed that the Cat-Back Exhaust System they offer says it is available for the 2.0L (LNF). Just wondering what kind of upgrade this would be and if it is worth the money to invest in a performace exhaust over the stock exhaust.

looks like the same cat-back that works on the LSJ will also work on the LNF, good news since the prices will already have gone down since new

I believe the stock exhaust is 2.5"

Any backpressure that is relieved from a turbo will yield VERY good gains.

It will be worth gains after you tune it.
Any exhuast you get just bolting on will yield no gains.
After you tune it, you'll see more gains then a person just tuning it.

A planet that understands the LNF engine and pcm.

If you don't understand, go read my write up and other past threads on this forum.

The engine will put out 260hp at all times. Meaning, your in a hot day, your boost will go up a bit to make sure the engine is putting out a solid 260. Or your in a cold day, the boost will go down a bit because it doesnt need as much psi to run 260. Same goes with bolt on's. You free up some backpressure, you'll stay at 260 because the pcm will trigger something else to keep that same pressure. Comprende?

All your gonna get from bolt on's unless you tune accordingly is sound and looks.

Welcome to the new world of performance cars.

The computer owns you all.

Its not just GM, if anything GM is behind in this game

VW does it
Audi does it
Saab does it
Mitsubishi does it

**** even mercedes benz does it...

Believe me its not GM, blame liberals and there emission standards.
This world is going to die, whether we dont use gas any more or we do. There's plenty of other things that waste a lot more then cars. I like to call them planes.

Cars were slow in the good old days.

This new cobalt is faster then most corvette's from the good old days... even 1990's vette's

I hear ya. Thanks man. I'm actually going through this with my g/fs new 04 GTI. We want to mod it but are still researching how. Found a place to "chip" it with some kind of learning thingamawhatever. So you can add an intake or exhaust and the computer will automatically adjust for the mod without having to get it tuned every time.

APR my man
Apr is the ******* ****.

There are some quick v-dubs around here thanx to me recomending apr, they went downpipe and everything. Some got there turbo upgrade after how pleased they were from just the chip. and oh yeah:

Its actually called flashing lol, but chipped is cooler to say.

Chipped is when you send in your ecu for the shop to do the tuning. Ecu flashing is when you plug in the module, and it tunes your car for you.

Not a prob man, if you have any questions at all feel free to Pm me. I'm usually on at night since i work all day

Check out AWE tuning also. Nothing but good things from them.

Which good old days do you speak of? We have a 66 corvette in the family with a 427 . Even with the super skinny original spec back tires it ran a 12.80 spinning threw 3rd gear. Now if your refering to the days after 1973 then i might be inclinded to agree with you till the late 80's ZR1's came out.
