Since my clutch started slipping right after I had St. 2 installed (leaking slave cylinder, since replaced by dealer under warranty), I never got a chance to see what St. 2 really did.

But now that I have 600 miles on my new clutch, I recently performed a nice 1/2 shift (not powershifting) and I got so much wheelspin that I had to let off the gas!

Now that's what I'm talking about.

My dealership said they have never installed a stage but said they have worked on a stage two car before. They said they would do the install for 2.5 labor I heard that was pretty decent ($172.50)..have you found out your cost yet? Hmm wonder if they would notice if I just switched out the 3.0 pulley for the 2.9 and screws for the install.

Ohh yeah and about the 2.8 I was interested in the 2.85-2.8 and this is a quote from a message Nate sent me that should help you decide.

"I wouldn't throw a 2.8 on until you have it tuned with 60's. Some people out there are running it on the stage 2 42 lb/hr injectors, but most of the logs have shown some pretty dangerous injector duty cycles (>100%) which can lead to a lean condition. Therefore I would suggest a 2.9 for now or if you get the 2.8 wait until you're ready to tune it with the 60's before you install it."

Quick question while on the stage 2 topic. So I currently go to a dealership that said they dont know if they will install the stage 2 for me and basically gave me a horrible price. Now theres another dealership that said they would install for 200. The current dealership warranties my car and has been very good to my family because we just bought an hhr ss there. What do i do? Install it at other dealership and keep going to the one im at? Is there anyway that they would find out the other dealership installed it?

The only problem with that is the other place is not as nice as a place. The one im at sponsors a whole corvette event and their service department is 1st class. The other dealership is not as high quality. Thats why I was wondering if the dealership im at now would see that work was done on my car at another dealership recently.

Take it to where ever is cheapest. GM is GM so it wont void your warrantee at the place you like. Definitely go for the better deal.

Yeah, I think crate engine depot is just the parts department in a Chevy place anyways..
The cheapest my dealer said they could give it to me for was $625 so.. CED FTW..

Try this:
  • Go to the dealer that you like (that has the higher price) and tell them what the other dealer quoted you for the install
  • Be honest and tell them what you told us, that you could really use to save a few bucks but that you admire their work/service

Maybe they'll be able to work something out for you ...

I might go do that but they have said once before they dont know if they can really do it besides quoting me on a price and 4 hours for the job. Dealerships are iffy if they see another dealer doing work on your car. Then they can give you **** saying your not loyal and we wont service your car.

If your preferred dealer said they DON'T KNOW if they can really do it, then there's no reason for them to be upset that had to go to another dealer to have it done!

Also, you might WANT to go to the dealer that has more (any?) experience with doing St. 2 upgrades.

When I had mine done, my dealer told me that they had already done over a dozen St. 2's.

My dealer also said that they have 2 Master Techs working at their dealership (only 70 or so of them in the entire nation).

Something to think about ...

I got the polished pulley so the pulley was $55 bolts were $4 and the faster shipping was $5.50 I believe.
