So I recently had to take the car into the stealership for warranty work. Mainly minor stuff. Couple of drips, a rattle, bubbles in the rim paint, and a crazy surge at idle when the weather is cold.

So I tell the Service Writer that the car has a stage 2 installed by Latoff Chevy. I brought the car to Hoskins cause that is where I bought it from. First, it took 1 week for them to replace the radiator house and look for the leak. They also ordered me 4 new rims. They call me and say "cars ready" So I ask what they did. He tells me.

The interesting part is when he gets to the tune. I ask so did you update the stage 2 tune. He says......What? I will have to find out. When I go to pick the car up I ask again and he says YES. So I think cool, they got it worked out.

I am not out of the parking lot and I hear the rattle. I back up and go straight into the service bay. I tell them they didn't fix the issue and the guy gets a tech to go with me. The tech hears it before I get out of the lot. They keep the car another 2 days to "adjust the converter."

So today is 9 days they have the car. I get it right at close. I take it down the road and test the "Stage II" tune and guess what. I bounce the rev limiter at 6800 RPM. OMFG... Let me tell you how mad I am right now. They are going to be hearing from me Monday morning. I am also going to be getting on the phone with Latoff to see if they can lend a hand.

Anybody ever have issues like this.

 

The rpm gauge reads low on these cars. It is probably reving to 7000k. This is common knowledge. Do you have a scan gauge?

If they didn't get the tune your car would not rev past 6500 no matter what.

Doesnt the tensioner rattle on the SS? I believe thats common and it doesnt effect the car.

 

It does rattle on our car. However, not on mine. The rattle was only when I was taking off to the left side, and only at take off.

I wasn't aware that our cars read low. I do have access to a scan gauge. Maybe I will do a run to check. I still just have this feeling that something may not be right with the tune.

 

What gear were you in when you bounced it off at 6800? If it was in 1st, it's probably right since the tach is going to have some lag.

 

My car has hit the limiter at "6800" before but it reved to 7k right after. The tach was prolly just slow.
