Do I need to cut my CAI??

CAI came with a filter like this where the end actually goes into the filter. The pipe is 3 inches but goes down to 2.5 inches where it enters the filter for some reason. So when that filter was put on the pipe, the pipe went half way into the filter, since the filter is made for a 3 inch pipe, and then the end of the filter goes into the actual filter like pictured so I got 0 air flow.

I bought a K&N filter like this and My check engine light went off and it ran better. But my question is, do I need to cut the end of the pipe that is 2.5 inches off. It sticks into the current filter about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way.

bad monkey.

leave the pipe alone.

who made the intake?

why are you trying to cram the pipe all the way to the base of the filter?

HAHAHA bad monkey. Good one.

I just figured if the filter is 3" and the end of the pipe is necked down from 3"-2.5" you could just get rid of what doesn't fit so that it's not sticking halfway into the filter and obstructing airflow. I've personally never seen such a thing and at first I couldn't even figure out what he was saying.

i cut my ebay intake where in necks down in the end. I believe it causes a slight disruption of the airflow before the maf and sets off CELs. It couldn't hurt, it was only about a 1.5"-2" section that had to be cut.

Yeah, its an ebay intake with a K&N filter. You threw a cel before or after you cut it? it disrupts air flow now or it will if I cut it? I cant imagine it doing any harm to cut it, but I figure better safe than sorry. I have stage 2 and cat back if that makes any difference for needed air flow.
