Motor swap 2.0L LSJ into a 2.2 Ls
Motor swap 2.0L LSJ into a 2.2 Ls
I was woundering if it is possible to swap a 2.0 lsj motor into a 2.2 LS?
Im new at this i just bought a cobalt LS last week and i wanted to see if it was possible to because my buddy has a complete lsj motor at his house that was in his SS.
If it is possible what all would i need to complete this?

here's the dumbed down answer. everything electronic communicates with each other. electronics from the 2.0 and 2.2 do not communicate with each other. so basically the car will freak out, think something is wrong, and won't run. theoretically, (don't think it's every been done) you can swap out every single component of the 2.0 to make it work, but you would lose things like power steering, abs, etc. making the car not driveable anymore. in other words, yes it's possible, but not worth it. for the price and headaches it's going to cost, you're better off building your 2.2
just like hack said... you would have to change ur whole car into an ss... without the bumpers and ****... i mean all the lights, dash crap, gauges, radio, all your sensors, bigger exhaust, etc.... there's so much crap involved in throwing in an lsj
Even simpler version. The computer used in the 2.2 will not work with the crankshaft position sensor on the 2.0.
Theres about 10 other things you would have to work around, that would be the biggest obstacle.
