Blown Engines
I give it longer.
1) the ECU is smart... and unless someone tries to fool it (big time), they are safe.
2) Most people learned their lessons with the LSJ, either from personal experience or hearing about it from others.

Im only 18 but im paying for it myself and i doubt i will blow this thing up but if it does who cares there is warranty. I can drive a stick and Im not stupid so Im sure i wont unless there is something wrong with the engine form the production line
I think there is going to be a lemon car that will blow. But just because there's always defects. If you are talking about someone blowing it by doing something stupid I don't know. But I do think someone will blow their motor because of GM within 8 months.
Thank you! i got my ss/sc when i was 16. ive never goten a ticket or raced anyone. Oh well if you think im lieing. Ive see way to many people killed in crashed due to stupid driving. Oh and never been in a accident, and i do the running for my company in there brand new trucks. Im 19 now btw/rant
OK? What's not stupid? Everything you look at is stupid, grow up dude. Its because of people like you that this thread was started. Dumb, stupid people like you....
But the discussion was about a blown engine, not breaking down.
Smarter computer, people learnign from mistakes of the past.. I give it quite some time.

I've seen 2 years of Solstice LNF with no engine failures. The LNF is built like a tank, and nobody can get far enough through tuning to blow it up anyway. I've seen a couple blown 2.4Ls with turbos but that's it.
Although, I can see some jackass Cobalt owner taking his buddy's advice (the guy with the DSM), and bypassing the wastegate for 25 PSI and burning a couple pistons before the engine goes into limp mode.

Then here in Phoenix, Bondurant Racing school purchased about 30 of the GXP solstice for their racing school, had them all converted for racing and everything, and then had GM buy them back because they were such a POS for lap racing.
Umm, I know under normal driving conditions the motors are great. But did you ever watch the show "SETUP" when they had the race of the final 3 contestants and 2 of them blew their motors before the race was over and the other nearly destroyed his engine.

Those were race tunes set up by GM, not sure what the specs were. A couple of the drift guys have had those cars passed on to them from GM and they were saying 340 rwhp? Remember when the Sols were dominating the SCCA 350Zs, Evo, STI, 3 series, and everyone was complaining about "GM's support" I think those had those same tunes as well.
