Tranny Cooler?

Hey guys..

Was at the shop the other day and saw a rack of tranny coolers.. Seem pretty reasonably priced.. From what I can tell, they're a solid mod to do to out auto-equipped cars, as we can run a stock one AND the extra one.. I was just posting to see what kinda things to look for when buying one for my particular car, and how the heck you install this? Does it just fit in with your stock one? Any pics or a DIY page? I have no idea.. lol. I'm getting a Shift Plus, so I figured I could do this while I was under there..

Thanks!

I have a permacool one behind my top grill, its a long tube design and fits perfect. you just add lines to it from your stock cooler.

Is it a really easy install? Or should I just tell my shop to install it the next time I'm in?

dont get a shift plus professionally installed please....total install time on the shift plus was about 45 seconds....also, the shiftplus helps the tranny run cooler, not hotter, so unless your going for some power upgrades, or are just looking to beef up your transmission a bit, the cooler isnt necessary

I have a tranny cooler on my old car, it does the trick, it mounts right onto your radiator and acts like a mini-radiator for your tranny fluid... I have it running

Tranny out --> Radiator --> Tranny Cooler --> Tranny in

Definitely do it yourself because it's not worth paying for labor for something such as that.

Hmm.. I'll need to compare these with my stock set-up.. Thanks!

For installing the Shift Plus, do you just cut the outer casing of those 2 wires and wrap the Shift Plus wires directly around the corresponding wire? Then just tape it all up and make it look all pretty? I'm getting mine tomorrow. And how much slack does the Shift Plus cable give you? I want to mount it in the center of my dash where the seatbelt warning thing is..

youll have enough slack, and im glad u meant the tranny cooler, and not the shift plus was getting prof. installed. lol

when i installed mine, i left the metal in the looms, and just clamped on it hard and rotated it around so it would bite its way all the way through the loom
