Reduced Engine Power
Ok, so I have looked around and can't find a problem that is exactly like mine, I'll start from begining.
After waiting 6 long weeks for my CAI to come in from being on back order, last week I had a Fujita F5 intake installed on my 2007 SS/SC. Performance wise it and the Stage 1 SC upgrade are the only mods I have made. (Stage 1 went in about 2 months ago)
I'm not all that impressed with the sound it makes, I thought it would be a little deeper, more throaty instead it kinda sounds like same noise that the car makes when you drive in reverse, but it was the HP I was after so the noise is all secondary.
THis was Wed I had it installed, And it was running great up until yesterday, when on the way to work I get a CEL, but the cars still running ok so I figured I would check it out after work, 2 mins later the CEL starts flashing, and the engine becomes non responsive or lags at higher RPM, plus when I'm low in a gear it tends to hop or sputter. When the CEL started flashing I was going up a hill and I had just gone over a bump, was not in a place where I could pull over, and before I could pull it over the REDUCED ENGINE POWER came up on my DIC and I really lost power, could barley make it up the hill I was on (Its BC, There big hills) I pulled over at a mini mall at the top of the hill and as soon as I went over the bump at the entrance the REDUCED light went off, the CEL stoped flashing, but stayed solid and most of the power came back, it was still sputtering. I turned it off and check all the hoses and wires in and around the intake figuring something came loose after the intake was installed, no luck. I made an apointment with the dealership but can't get in for a couple days. The car was def. not driving right on the way home and once again going up a hill caused a flashing CEL, the went back to solid after a few seconds.
I seems like something is loose but I still haven't got back to full power since this started.
Do you think it has something to do with the intake, the place I took it to checked for CEL's after they did it, plus there a very reputable place that do alot of high end work, but finding a place around here that will work on domestics is hard, there one of the only ones so I dont think it was something they did, if anything maybe they knocked something loose and didn't notice it at the time (I hear fitting those CAI's in can be a chore)
Is there something more sinister at work here, it almost feels like the clutch is sliping would that cause it to go into limp mode?
If it makes a difference it has 14000km on it its had 2 oil changes (47% left right now) the SC upgrade was done at the dealership I bought it from and has had no problems up till now.
It also has been lowered with Eibach's has got a 6000k HID conversion that sit in 3rd generation projectors, extensive stereo work, (used the GMOS LAN-04) to adapted my DVD player, and am running about 2100 watts, also swaped out my battery for an optima red.
Also noticed theres a pin hole sized hole in the exhaust right at the rear tire, on the bottom side of the pipe, only reason I noticed it was it was cold one morning and Istarted my car then went back inside (let it warm up, which I do for at least 5 mins or till the rpms drop to 750 everytime I start it) when I came out i could see the steam coming from the hole. I figured I'd wait till the next oil change to have it fixed.
Can anyone give me an idea as to what the problem is before I walk into the dealership, they tend not only use no lube but not even a courtesy spit before they rape me?
Is there a good chance that the CAI caused this thus voiding the warranty, cuz you know thats what there going to say?

Haha it "sounds like you are driving in reverse"!! Thats the JOY, complete ******* JOY of having the M62. Now on to the rest of your post....
You need to clean your MAF. $4 can at autozone. Sounds like you got some oil from the filter on the MAF, just needs a lil cleaning.
Also, if you need to take it to the stealership, just throw your stock intake back on there.

Thanks guys
If I wanted to get one of those code readers, quickly don't have time to wait for internet order, would I need an OBD II reader or better yet would this work
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...08474396672441
Sorry I'm a little noob when it comes to the lingo, whats the M62?
And what exactly do I need to clean the MAF and the throttle body, we don't have auto zone in Canada so I would have to find a similar product at Canadian Tire or Lordco

) noise. You goto your auto parts store and get an aerosol can of MAF cleaner, ask the dude at the register, he SHOULD know what you are talking about.
Sound like a loose connection or a dirty maf ,did you plug the maf in properly.
they may have pulled on the maf wires to hard when removing the air box and damaged a wire that is now broken .
Put it in backwards.
Bring it back to the guy who put it in and give him a chance to repair it.

I had civic before this car, with DC sports headers Akimoto intake and a Brullen exhaust attached to a custom 2 inch down pipe When I drove around I set car alarms off, rattle windows, so to me the whine is little whimpy (lol) but I was really sick of the loudness of the civic by the end so quiet is better, infact its the only thing thats kept me from putting an exhaust on the balt, it just wasn't what I expected. I forgot that SC/TC cars run quieter than NA cars.
So heres a real noob question, I wouldn't know the MAF if it walked up and slapped me in the face, where is located so I don't start ripping things apart that need not be ripped apart
Thanks for the help guys

Haha, it has to do with the number of Posts you make. Once you hit 400 you become a junior member. May I suggest going PREMIUM?

I FIXED IT
Turns out it was a loose clip, if yoy look in the picture below you'll see two wiring harness right dead center of the picture, both have a grey clip that slides over them to keep them in place, if you look the one does not have the grey clip in the closed position, I guess this was bouncing around and causing the CEL cuz as soon as I put it back the way it should be the CEL went off and alll my power came back, it drives like it used to
Thanks for the help guys
