rough idle, hesitation, throttle lag and cel after intake install
wtf. wtf. wtF.
had an intake on before w/ no issues. installed a new intake that is less restrictive and provides more air flow and it goes to crap. no read on the codes yet, will go to autozone tomorrow. any ideas?
... and no i dont have sai.

is your MAF in the right direction? maybe a dirty MAF as well
autozone has a MAF cleaner, grey bottle, should be on heir chemical wall...and try disconnecing the battery and turning it back to let the ecm relearn everything, i knwo i got a code from my intake, reset it all hasnt come back, i made a change from short ram to cai
maf is in the correct position, facing the right way. i marked it before i took it apart. im leaning towards dirty maf or leak. getting the code checked in a few hours on my lunch... and i did d/c my batt and held the brake 30 sec.. did nothing. started it up, light was gone but still had the driveability symptoms and the light came back after 10 mins of driving.
I know my TB was a little sticky and had a little oil and it was making it stick. I was having the exact same symptoms you are having.

could something have happened to screw up the maf.. like needs replacement? I didnt drop it or get anything on/in it as far as i know...
my codes are p0171 and p0101
i looked under the hood and my pcv hose was cracked down the middle so i replaced that and it seems a little better but the engine still has a bit of a sputter to it.. i'll clean the tb and maf when i get home and see what happens.

P0101 is a broken MAF. You must have messed it up when you took it apart. Check it yet again, this time look at the wiring harness for loose connections. Otherwise you might have to replace it.
update
i went home and took the whole thing apart and put it back together making sure all the fittings were tight. i visually inspected the maf, looks clean, no buildup or anything at all. nothing looks to be broken phyically. i removed and cleaned the tb thoroughly. put it all back together (making sure all connecters were in all the way (maf was facing the correct way all the time). started it up and idled for about 15 minutes, still a little sputter, but no cel. drove it around for a few minutes, went wot a couple times, no cel. idled for another 5 mins, no cel.
got up this morning to leave for work, drove 5 minutes and got the cel. any ideas? will get code scanned again this afternoon.

I have an Injen and never had a cel
Sounds like you banged up you're maf or you're custom intake is flawed. Make sure that electrical plug on the TB is pluged in all the way. If all else fails, put you're stocker back on and if the problem goes away, then you know what caused it.
yeah dont have the stocker anymore
sold it a while back. had a different intake on before this one. i can pick up a new oem maf for about $50 + shipping, that seem like a good price?
bueller? bueller?
bueller? bueller?

my intake sputters for the first 30 seconds to a minute then goes away... no code or anything any ideas what this could be? Ive unhooked the battery for a night once and it worked for the first start then the sputter came back.
