Cel
turn the car off, pull the cap off the gas tank, re-seat it and disconnect battery for 10 mins. If it's a fluke because of emissions then this will fix it. If there really is a problem the light will come back on and u need to check with your dealer. You might wanna do this before going to your dealership and looking like a fool if they tell u it was your gas cap being lose....
haahha thats the exact same thing that happened to my brother in his Sunflower.. eerrr Sunfire sorry, just the gas cap, he didnt even need to unplug the battery, just reattach the gas cap, turn the car on see what happens
I started it in the morning and it was still on, dropped my daughter off at school and headed to the dealer. When I made the last turn to the dealer the light went off, so I turned around and went home. Been driving it all day and it never came back on. Went to Autozone and got a chrome exhaust tip for $6.99 looks like GM's, although it isn't double wall, but GM's costs $69. Anyway it looks good on the car and I am not sweating the CEL.
Doesn't this car have a specific message for the gas cap being loose? Not too long after I got my car it flashed a "Tighten Gas Cap" message or something to that effect. I don't think the CEL ever came on though.

Never heard of a specific message before..
but at least he didn't make a fool of himself by going to the dealer and being told to tighten his gas cap
u came to the right place to ask first bro
There is a CEL for "Check the gas cap" I think that is funny... its in the manual for the cars! What is it about the damn gas caps and GM! Of all things wrong with these cars I don't think we all need to worry about how tight we put the cap on!!!!
