What should the PSI of my tires be?
The Higher the PSI, the better the gas mileage, the longer they last, the better cornering response, but the less traction you get.
The Lower the PSI, the shorter they last, the less gas mileage you get, the worse cornering response, but the more traction you get.
I daily drive on 32psi... I Drag Race at 25psi.

Ok dont go by the sidewall or by anything else exept for the tire place card inside your drivers door.
On the normal cobalt its 30psi but check your door.
Chevy test differant pressures to be sure you get the best tire wear, so I would go with what they say.
Racing completly differant story..........

true about the traction, but the higher pressure, you usually get only marginally less grip, but you're prone to lose that grip suddenly. lower pressure holds it longer and is more predictable.
35 is probably what they should be at rissa, but yeah, your sidewall will let you know. also, there's a sticker on the inside of your door or on the frame near the door latch on the driver's side that has all that info.

sweeeeet! Then they're right where they should be!
Oh and I remember people saying a while back they couldn't find anything in their manual about competitive mode and whatnot, I just found this slip in my dash that explains everything yesterday lol.

sorry, just watched Borat
yes 33 psi is what is recommended the tire pressure on the tires is the max tire pressure for that tire never go with that. Also when you drive the car the tire pressure will increase due to the heat from the tires and brakes. On average when driving i see 38 to 39 psi at the tires when i start up in the morning they are 32 psi.
I filled mine to 40 cold, gets up to 45-46 on highway cruising. Sorry, I prefer better mileage and longevity.
The stock ss/tc tires are max press 51psi cold, so I'm well within the safety limits. Also, the door sticker is the same across all cobalt models, 95%+ of which are LS/LT, which have lower pressure tires. i.e. you can't believe EVERYTHING GM tells you.

33psi is the recommended and correct PSI for the 2008 - dont know about earlier years.

Listen to your tire manufacturer...they know more than you.
what he said is 100% true, but there is a limit to both ends of the spectrum. races are won and lost on tire pressure. manufacture settings are for the common joe, if you know what you're doing, you can tweak it to great advantage.
