Jet Stage 1.. better MPG??

I've noticed claims in catalogues about the Jet Stage I chips, that they increase horsepower and torque moderately and change the fuel and air b/s to also improve fuel economy...... is that actually true? can any owners of a stage I vouch for this?..... for a bit extra power, torque and fuel economy in a simple bolt on, I may consider

I've had the Stage 1 module for about 2 months now. My mileage has dropped to about 24.6 MPG in mostly in-town driving from 26.3 MPG. Low end performance is definitely better, none of the <4K RPM lag with my auto tranny. I do tend to accelerate off-the-light harder (not WOT, just feels good) so that might be the reason my MPG is down. If you can't find someone to tune, I recommend trying the stage 1 module.

I was curious about highway mileage since I drive a decent distance to work daily.... I know with cruise at 70 mph, I get roughy 31 MPG, and I was curious if at that speed it would make any difference to mpg

I haven't driven my Cobalt at continuous highway speeds since installing the module so I don't yet know about that mileage.

My Butt dyno says it's good up to 80MPH -- haven't gone over 80MPH yet. May sound funny -- but most of the speed limits around me for miles are 45MPH and the cops are active -- we need more donut shops.

No, and I won't put my car on a dyno either. I dynoed a 2.2 auto and learned that the operator could insert filters and adjust the readings, so I don't trust dynos. I want to run it on the dragstrip but I don't have plans on a date yet.

Wow they can adjust the reading huh. So whats the point of a dyno if the numbers are not accurate?

When I went in to dyno my 06 LS to check the output of the 2.4 manifold the operator asked me what I wanted it to show - I told him I wanted it to be an honest test. Turned out we couldn't keep the tranny in 3rd gear without it downshifting and upshifting so we never got a clean graph without the spikes from the shifts to show a clean difference with and without the manifold. he kept putting in filters to try and get a clean graph and this showed me how a dyno test can be "adjusted".

About a year ago Road and track was asked why they didn't use dynos when rating cars and their response was there were too many variables (temp, baro pressure, humidity, etc. as well as calibration issues -- the same car on 2 different dynos will read different) that they don't consider dynos as being a valuable aid in comparing cars.

but you would negate these variables by dynoing the cars on the same day...

Driving with CC set @ 117km/h the car was reading 8.7 Liters. So that about 27mpg driving @ 73 MPH. This was after driving without stoping for 4 hours. Windows were down and sunroof open so there was some drag.
Think I got that right

I get ALOT better milage if I only drive 100km/h

You know car guys, they want to brag about their 5 extra HP -- if you test a bunch of cars then all the climate variables change through the day so one car could top out if it was done the earliest when the temp was cooler for example. And their point was you can take the same car to different dynos and get different readings.

What's the point of trying to prove you made an extra 10HP with "part X" when the HP readings can be as much as 20 HP different between different dynos -- which do you believe then? Dyno time is not cheap either!

If you don't have any remote back roads around you, I find that a good place for acceleration tests for the butt dyno are highway on ramps. I can easily get my car up to 150 km/h on most of those (about 100 mph)

Nearest on-ramp is an hour drive away away I shot up a bridge to get just over 80 MPH and let off before cresting in case cops were on the other side.

I haven't posted on this forum before, but figured now would be as good a time as any. First off, I'm from Lockport, NY and have a tad over 20,000 miles on my silver 07 ss/na 5spd. K&N short ram went on at 5,000 miles and has been on ever since. AMSOIL synthetic went in at 10,000m. 2 weeks ago,at about 19,500, I received my Stage 1 jet module from Jegs. Thanks to several members who have posted tips on this module, install was a snap. Like Red07SSNA has posted, the first thing I noticed was improved power in the 1500-3500 rpm range. Getting up to speed it was easy to see the car wasn't laboring as hard in this rpm range. I drive from lockport to rochester for work at least once a week, which is a 150 mile round trip that is mostly 55mph country roads with a few 40 mph zones that go through small towns with several stop signs and signals. I should also note that I probably have the only cobalt ss with a Yakima ROOF RACK and fairing(I do my share of mtn biking). Through my experience the rack is good for minus 2-2.5mpg all around. With the rack prior to the jet module, i got 31-32 mpg on this 150m trip. WIth the module, last weeks trip netted 32 mpg on the dot. Yesterday I removed the rack(was getting hail damage fixed today) before heading back there again and netted 34.5mpg round trip. I'm not very aggressive on this drive , but typically cruise at 58-63 in the 55 zones and enjoy downshifting into 3rd and hammering down to pass slow moving traffic SO in my experience thus far, I havent lost any mpg with the stage 1 module. I will note that I have found 1-2 mpg variance in mpg on this trip in the past year just due to temperature, humidity, wind direction, and also brand of fuel(amazing the tolerances they are allowed)....always run 91-93 octane also. So we will see how future trips stack up with this jet module, but so far the butt dyno and mpg says it is worth the $250.
Has anyone ran theirs up to redline yet with this module? I only hit the limiter once before, months ago, but I thought it was around 64 or 6500 stock??? I ran it up to 6500 last night and had no sign of a rev limiter...anyone hit it with the jet module yet??

I hit 6750 RPM in my 1-2 shift (auto) too -- before and after the Jet Chip module install.

Glad to hear you're getting your money's worth too. With hindsight I would have gotten the Jet Chip module first and then started adding all the intake/exhaust mods.

from my experience most dynos are inside in a controlled environment so the veriables wont be such a problem. They do shine however when you make a couple of add ons, one day jobs and test them with the same settings in the same car to get an idea of your gain. this is possible and can be helpfull. the local shop here gives you dyno time when you spend 200 dollars or more so this has been helpfull. another thing to consider is when you make drivetrain upgrades or even install anew brake system you can loose power at the wheels due to the added size of rotors for example. I do agree that the best way to test your car is the "give it hell" method on the street. but for numbers a dyno can give an idea of what you got.
