Stage 1...To Us

This isn't a GMPP package. This is what me and my friend are calling stage 1 of his car project.

Goal: To take a stock SS/SC after mods.

Mods to be Done:
1)Intake
2)Exhaust
3)Header
4)Short Shifter
5)Motor Mounts
6)Tranny Mounts
7)Underdrive Pulleys

Do you guys think the goal is out of reach? Do agree with what were doing to start? Just lookin' for some feedback.

I don't get it, this is what your doing to a SS/SC or to a N/A SS?

Either way it's a good start at least.

btw does anyone know if the ZZ Performance motor/trans mount work for the 2.4 NA SS?

For the 2.4L - Your goals should be attainable don't see why not, don't know if they make underdrive pulleys for the 2.4L, no clue. Your goal through ppl off.

It says at the top, but then again, I seldom look there until people start asking what motor it is.

according to a few magazines (sorry guys not trying to be a mag racer) but the auto 2.4 is supposed to be running a 15.2 (i have come VERY close to that with a full tank of 87) while the sticks are supposed to run 15 flat......so .3 or .5 of a second is not that much outta reach

Exactly, I will have 30 000KM + on my car by the time the track opens, my goal is 14's with just the intake.

At most a NA SS is rougly 0.75 sec slower. I hit 15.4 with an awful 2.5 sec 60ft time and barely broken in engine.

I really doubt an auto is a low 15 though, at least in stock form

so assuming an SS/SC with a similar 60' would yeild somewhere around a 14.6 thats a fair bit of ground to make up with those mods ...Its possibly but you are going to have to beat an SS/SC driver.

I think an MSD Ignition system with coil over packs would do good.

I never even thought of an ignition system which suprises me because I normally think of every angle. Depending on price though that might be better fitted in what were calling stage 2. Not sure yet.

There was a thread on here a week ago about this...

suppositly these cars dont have them, everything runs off their own electric motor except the ac.

Try higher octane fuel and lossing some weight off the car.

You dont even make enough power to benefit from an ignition upgrade. Its a waste of and pointless. Besides, theres not much more you can do to the stock ignition system to make any power from it...unless you can change-over to the distributor sytle igntion.

agreed and underdrive would be pointless

if you are going to race an SS SC remove everything you can from the car remove the rear sub, spare, jack, floor mats, rear seats, run with a 1/4 tank of 91 octane. if you are serious about beating someone in the 1/4 mile then throw on some 16inch rims with good sticky rubber, and drop your sway bars.
