Intense stage kits.. help please

Hey guys I was just wondering if I can get some help. Im looking in to getting some sort of stage 2 or 3 kit. I was looking at the Intense kits but I have heard horror stories about peoples motors blowing with their kits. What kit do you guys think is the best one to get? Or what set up?

I bought the stage 3 kit from intense and havent blown my motor or anything close to it. Ive had it over a year in the car. In vegas is was cheaper to order it and do it myself then buy the gmpp kit. No one here would touch it so i spent a lil more and got bout 15 more horsepower

get hp tuners or find someone with it or any tuning device buy the proper injectors and the pulley youd like and have at it. that is your best bet. i had intense stage 4 and it was pretty decent never had problems with it but i am no longer running their tune.

yeah dude, go buy 42lb injectors with a 2.9 pulley, stage 2 belt and then go get tuned. it will cost less and be spot on. If you want to pulley down even more but the 60lb injectors.

Hahaha soo funny you ask... I have an Intense Stage 4 kit and I have had some problems with it. Overall the parts are great. I really like their their pulley system. The injectors, harness, belt, etc are all things that are not unique to Intense and should be fine. Their tune however not soo much... Ever car is different, and my car just does not seem to like the Intense tune. I have never heard of anyone actually blowing an engine with a tune like this. If anything a tune like Intense would be conservative. I know personally they don't mess with the timing like other tunes. I'm not gonna re-type everything I ever had about Intense so I'll post a link to a past thread I've started concering them. Search around, you'll find more...

Overall the best thing to do is to get your own injectors, harness, pulley system, belt, plugs, etc and find someone around to custom tune you. You will be much happier. Intense has been kinda helpful in the past with providing support. But now about 2 months after I bought the stuff they won't return my complain emails about returning the PCM tune for a refund... Go figure!

Wow I really appreciate all the help... If I wanted to put my owne kit together... Where is the best place to order the stuff and what all would I need?

Also wouldnt it be easier to get a piggy back for the custom tunning?

Check the supporting vendors section. Go through their websites and find the best prices.

You have an 05'-07' SS SC right? A piggyback is not needed. HP Tuners or EFI Live can tune the PCM directly. There is no need for anything other than the software and interface.

Most vendors vary by price slightly for the stuff. Either shop around if you want the absolute lowest prices, or buy everything from a vendor you trust. I have had good experiences with ZZP, Clear Image, All Ecotec, and Intense (minus their tuning).

The Intense or ZZP tune wouldn't be bad if you wanted something just to get everything together until you can get a custom tune done. You may even save some getting a "kit". Just beware. My car runs bad sometimes, your car may run fantastic. Wouldn't know until you tried...
