Rattles in new 08 SS/TC

I have about 1000 miles on my car now and it has developed some rattles in the dash and rear deck. I think I can fix the rear deck with a little foam tape between the deck lid and chassis but the dash is a little more complicated. When I am on the highway hitting the expansion joints I hear it the most. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, any idea where the dash rattle is coming from? I would hate to take it to the dealer and have some "tech" rip my dash apart and not find anything. I thought I would check here and see if anyone else might know what it is first. Thanks!

just take it to the dealer and tell them your concern...i would... no matter how goofy it might seem...better safe than sorry...+ its a brand new car you shouldnt have to take it all apart...

You did not exactly buy "La Creme de La Creme" when it comes to cars...
If you want perfection, get a German car... Now you have a glorified Sunfire... It's normal to expect some irregularities in build quality.. You bought a cheap car...

I thought I would get replies like this! I bought this car to have a fun, cheap, daily driver and yes I understand that it is only a cobalt but it seems to be a little early to have rattles already. Oh well I guess they had to save money somewhere.

Wait, so you're saying your plastic spoiler rattles when you're going over 20 mph?

Dude...my whole car is plastic tupperware, imagine the rattles. But those dent resistant dealies work...unless faced with a tree of great magnitude.

No, the carpet covered panel that covers the rear deck where the speakers are rattle as well as something inside the dash.

That would be a pain to try and track that one down! On my way home tonight I am moving both of the seats all over the place to see if that works.

Well I tried the seat bar this morning on the way home and thats not it. I guess I will end up taking it to the dealer and seeing what they say.

I know I bought a Cobalt but I have driven others with higher miles and they did not have this dash rattle. So unless you have something helpful to add to the thread please refrain from posting in it. I don't need multiple people telling me its a cheap car. I understand its cheap, thats why I bought it.

It's one of those things that you have to learn to live with, unfortunately. You can try taking it to the dealer.. they might be able to find it and come up with a solution.

if the tech is good they can find the rattle. cause im a tech at a chevy dealership it a pain in the ass looking for rattles i hate it but i find my rattles 98% of the time. i have the 08 cobalt tc with 900 miles on it but no rattles yet. if u have an 08 cobalt theres a recall for the drain plug. the treads come out when u take it off. if u take it for that u can get a free oil change. the oil change is part of the fix.

Thanks for the information! Does the recall affect the SS/TC's? If so I am going to go at 1500 miles and get my oil change. I planned on doing my first one at 1500 anyway but free is better.
