Geting new tires. Need some Sugestions.

Ok I ordered new rims and will be ordering new tires in a few days to go with them and Im not sure what to buy. I have herd good things about the stock tires used on the SRT4s but im not sure what tire they are. Any help would be good.

Pleas include a link if you can to the tire and the reasons why you recomend it.

Im looking for a set of summer only tires size 235-40-18 to be mounted a 7.5 inch wide rim. 42mm offset.
I want them to last about 20K or so and hold the road beter then th stockers. And would like somehting that will hook up off the line beter to.

Thanks.

1. They are sticky and provide wet traction too.
2. They are improved over the old KDW (which I had and thought they were awsome)
3. Finally, they look cool too!

Thanks for the help every one.
Oh and No I dont think you can mount that size on the stock rims. A 7.5 is pushing it. they recomend an 8" rim.

ok i raced a RL 2 weeks ago that was bone stock, and he beat me because he had some nitto tires on the front that eliminated all of his wheel hop! He was launching at 3k and no wheel hop. does anyones know what these might be? And if we can get them in a 18?

i have finally cleared up the myth, a 235/40/18 WILL INDEED FIT ON A STOCK RIM. I had the chance to pick up 2 for a pretty decent price and I had them mounted to the stock rim. It doesn't bulge out at all and it does clear the craddle for the spring on the front and rubs on nothing. You can also still go lock to lock with the steering with no problems at all. I picked up goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3's. If I can get my buddy to snap a few pics I will post them up here.

F1's are awesome tires..... Only to watch for is the wear. Ive seen many F1's wear funny and after about 1/2 way through the tread life they can develop tire pulls and quite a bit of road noise.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are also great. Very Very similar to the F1 with better wear characteristics. The extra quality comes at an extra price too.... Go figure...

Sport Contact 2s are very similar as well.... but ive had problems in the past with Contis and ride quality..

As far as the C&D test... I guess you cant argue the test results... they are what they are... Despite that though youll never convince me that a Pzero Rosso, Dunlop Sport Maxx, or Hankook are even close to the quality/performance combination of a T1-R... Maybe close to the older T1-S...

I had them on my Miata. Awesome tires. They stuck very well in the dry and great in the rain too. Seemed to wear incredibly well too considering I ragged the hell out of them.

agreed, problem is that i have never own other performance tires, and this site and the ppl on it are young and relatively new, so its hard to get solid info on tires etc. All i have to go on is the research I do online. Which ultimately lead me to the F1's they finish first on almost every test/category/rating that they are in, hope they are as good as they say.

Well I have it down to the Toyo T1R or the BFG G-force T/A KDW 2 < same as the tires used on the SRT4 but there the second gen and suposed to have fixed the chunking problem that the first gen had.

KDW are great performers... Go to 1010tires.com or tirerack.com and read some reviews.... I not sure about the "2"s but I know KDWs can be a very noisey tire...

I would guess that the KDWs will handle better and the T1Rs will be better in the rain and last longer. I liked the predictability of the T1Rs too which doesn't really matter much on a FWD car. With tires that wide either one you choose will most likely outhandle your abilities and the car's as well. I personally would choose the Toyos since I have had them and liked them.

Ive got a friend with an SC'd R32 and he just got a set of T1Rs a few thousand miles ago.... He absolutely loves them... Had Sport Contact 2s before and says its like night and day as far ride quality.... Says the T1Rs feel stickier in the corners too...

Mine should be here early next week... along with my new wheels hopefully
