stock has 2.25 from the axle back. down pipe and mid pipe are 2.5" and the manifold is roughly the diameter of a pencil

There is No reason to mess with the Cat, There is NO restriction or HP gain to be had.

We made 390 WHP with CAT and 2.5 Exhaust.

missinformation. It's been proven that going catless provides gains. It's been proven that going 3" provides losses. 2.5" catless exhaust is going to give the biggest gains. SEARCH.

If you have the GM stage 2 belt do you need a tensioner?

I can tell ya this. You will love it. I just got a tune from Tom, aka wicked and I really do enjoy it. I am running 22 degrees of timing, methanol injection, the 2.8inch pulley and 60lbers. I am going to the dyno monday, and am sooo excited.
