Got To Test Drive One

Well my local dealer got a black one in with black seats. One of our family friends works there and got me a test drive on it. As far as my thought on it, here goes.

Its over all drive is great, it definitely has the power and that 260ft lbs. tq definitely puts you in your seat. The manal transmision handles the power great and it is easy to run through the gears. The stock DV can be heard going "PHH" with the windows up. Its not extremly loud but enough to be heard. I didn't get to test the launch because we had to make it unnoticeable.

As far as handling it surely held its own. It felt like it should, comfortable with enough to give you a jolt of response. It held as the turbo spooled and ran down the street. keep in mind i test drove one with a LSD.

The new look and design makes it realy stand out among other cars. The seats are awsome. They are slightly bolstered and are pretty comfortable.

My overall feel of it is I would get one if I could because I know of its capabilites. However im not too crazy about it.

ON A SIDE NOTE: I am noticing a few new SS/SC in the area. i've seen about 4-5 in my area alone.

Your local dealers feeling skimpy on the test drives? I had no problem at any of the stealerships I visited. From what I've seen, I have the first SS/TC in my area. Plenty of SCs around though....

Yeah if your not going to buy they kinda don't want you to test drive it. I believe mine has the 1st one in the area as well.

I'd be pretty thankful if no one test drove my order while it was waiting for me to pick it up.

As a general rule of thumb, no one should test drive brand new perormance cars. None of them are broken in, and people don't test them to see if the ride is smooth. They test them to beat the living snot out of the cars and leave them fucked up for the future owner.

Exactly why I ordered mine. I don't want to search for my car, and end up getting a car that's been test drove the **** out of. You can feel the power of a car by normally driving it, you don't have to floor it and drive it like a race car to realize the potential and power of this car.

This is also why I ordered mine; I even had it written in the contract that the car will have less than 15km (approx. 9.3mi) when I pick it up from the dealership, in addition to being filled with premium fuel. If I'm dropping that much money on something I'm not having some moron beat the hell out of it on a test drive.

Exactly! I know the internet sales manager who ordered mine and he was going to order the same exact way I ordered mine but decided to keep his vette lol. He will be looking it over as soon as it gets there with no bullshit joy rides.

I always get test drives.... How else will you know if you like a car or not?!? When the"highly anticpated" Evo X came out, I had no problem getting a demo. Wasn't that impressed with what you get for $35k (+/-), and thus didn't buy. STi's, Corvettes, the range of SRT-8 products -- you name it, I've demo'd it.

That's how I ended up with my SRT-4 and Cobalt SS/TC. I wasn't really interested in buying one, until I drove one. The fact my TC has 47 miles on it upon delivery, doesn't bother me at all. Modern cars aren't really sensitive to break-ins; and if there was ever a drivetrain problem -- that's what the 100k warranty is for.

Maybe it helps when you show up with carte blanch (read: blank check) from your local credit union....

The only issues I've had in securing test drives has been with regards to my age; I'm only 21. Many dealerships don't take me seriously. In fact, though I knew of the SS/TC and was interested, it was a big plus for me that the Chevy dealership was the only one to treat me with any semblance of respect.

I pretty much can't win at my age so I typically just take my dad along for the test drive... They think he'll be the one footing the bill so they're a lot more cooperative.

we finally got our first one around here yesterday, and stopped in and was lookin at it and a salesman came walkin out w/ a tag and the key and handed it to me, but I turned him down. I do like the seats though. Brakes and wheels are a nice add to the look, and i'd imagine the brakes are a nice performance upgrade as well.
