so its about time that i got the color corrected and i have... but also i have been up to taking the LOOOONG route at finishing the doors... im not just sanding and painting them down... i am doing a lil more lengthy route
ok so i hated the grainy rough look that shows through when you just paint our door panels
so here we go.... im bringin in the BONDO! lol yes ladies n gets i want the smooth finish like the dash pieces! and no more nitty gritty...

im still workin on the first piece i just thought i would give a little teaser and i will def be workin my ass off to finish this by tomorrow night.. so total time spent will be under 12 hrs from removing door to reapplying door. i hope.
also i am going to do a 1/4" thick bowtie painted on so we will see how that ends up.
ToTaLeD 08-31-2008, 10:15 PM Wow you have your work cut out for you. Looks like you off to the right start though. Looks good!
Viper33884 08-31-2008, 10:42 PM I have a friend (Cobalt) that did his whole interior, I don't think he used any bondo on the doors at all. Just started sanding the dimples off and put a few cotes of primer on and came out smooth.
SlowBalt_06 08-31-2008, 10:43 PM yea if you sand that plastic with a 800 then 1000 and 1500 it will be smooth then its just in the painting
ToTaLeD 08-31-2008, 10:47 PM ahh you guys are gunna ruin his day lol
YELLOW_REVOLUTION 08-31-2008, 10:52 PM that and i have a lil somethin up my sleeve for the doors... didnt think i would give it all away now did you lol muahaha
Perfect.disguise 08-31-2008, 10:53 PM ahh you guys are gunna ruin his day lol
No more than he ruined his cars day ;)
SlowBalt_06 08-31-2008, 10:55 PM idk its just hard to think that the door panels are not gonna fuck up when he slams the doors and stuff like that..the center console would have been alittle better for this..he should have glassed it instead
Viper33884 08-31-2008, 10:59 PM ahh you guys are gunna ruin his day lol
LOL not trying to ruin it, I just knew of a better way to do it. I have another friend that tried to make his own door speakers and everything, got the bondo on and started to crack and come off because he didn't prep it correctly, but I think your doing pretty good. :D
cobaltguy88 09-01-2008, 03:11 AM shoulda just sanded it down, then added a few layers of primer.. my buddy robert works at a local chevy dealer... he did all his interior by cleaning it first, then adding a few layers of primer to smoothen it out... pure sex when it was finished. he has 10yrs experience in the field, painting, and working on cars in general.
good luck though, u got ur work cut out man. cnt wait to see the results
ls1fbody 09-01-2008, 03:17 AM i'm thinking about sanding my interior down, and painting it all flat black with an eggshell clear, subscribed for the final product.
hedlesshorsmenss 09-01-2008, 03:27 AM try not to twist the panel at all. i also tried this and youll find out that the bondo will chip away. good luck though man.
ls1fbody 09-01-2008, 03:29 AM yeah, i was thinking that too, fiberglass would've been better if you had the time.
SlowBalt_06 09-01-2008, 03:48 AM i'm gonna be sanding mine down

JPizzle 09-02-2008, 07:32 PM The stripes look real good man!
YELLOW_REVOLUTION 09-02-2008, 07:33 PM just took a lil while to mask em lol
Firebirdhorn 09-02-2008, 07:38 PM did your special edition balt come with the chevy bowtie on the truck from the factory?
YELLOW_REVOLUTION 09-02-2008, 07:48 PM no mine is one of a kind in a stupid way... it was ordered a special edition with a stripe delete... meaning its the real kit.. just ordered without the stripes... well when i told them i wanted yellow with black stripes 5spd and all ebony interior no tan... there was only one left in the states... so the dealer bought it and delivered her to me...and it didnt have the stripes... so the dealer flew in a guy to laser up a grid on the car to mock the stripes and he put them on did great... i get there and he is like well we figured you would want to be different so we left the bowtie on the back... at first i was mad cause u know it comes debadged as part of the package... but whatever i dont mind it so much now... and there she be...
JRANGER 09-02-2008, 07:50 PM wow cant wait to see the doors finsihed

OrangeCrush 09-02-2008, 09:10 PM hey bro what did you out on that before you painted?
takes5tries 09-02-2008, 09:16 PM hey bro what did you out on that before you painted?
same question. what did you put on the door before you painted it?
YELLOW_REVOLUTION 09-02-2008, 10:02 PM that door is just a light sanding and primer then paint... then alot of time clearcoating... but the newer pics... are the bondo which will look a wwhole lot better... i will keep you all posted up to date.
