Custom Cold Air Intakes
Custom Cold Air Intakes
Im looking into getting a CAI for my car. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on a brand name intake when the difference is usually the brand name welded/stickered on the pipe. I was going to order the JDM intake, but they have yet to restock it after 4 months.
Now i'm considering making my own intake with pipes and clamps from pepboys, anyone have advice or opinions on making a custom CAI?

Yeah, it's been a long time waiting for the JDM intakes, who the hell knows if they'll ever be back in stock...
I'm thinking of going either Injen or AEM at this point...kinda wanted a K&N filter, though, but don't really want SRI...

i did this same thing... but i left the stock airbox on it...

90degree elbow from autozone about 10 bucks... intake for some random car 49.99 and the popcharger for the crank case was 7.99 the silicone connection was 10 bucks. about 80 bucks all together, but still cheaper than buying a intake from some major company... 47.99 for the k&n drop filter but i've not done that part yet...
p.s. had to cut about 4" off the pipe to make it work but looks great i think.

autozone pepboys advanced they all have that 90 degree elbow then just grab some intake they have their doesn't really matter what car its for as long as it looks like the pictures above, usually around 50 bucks for the intake, and then about 10 for the elbow and another 10 for the silicone hose.
don't mean to necro the thread, but i ordered a 90 degree silicone elbow and coupler mine will look similar to the above but still using the stock airbox de-silenced... i'll post pictures when i get it all installed.
