Need Cams

Trying to find a place to get some cams for the ride and not having much luck finding any. What would be good to buy and where? How much is everyone out there paying?

There is someone in the classifieds section selling new comp stage 2 cams for $100 less than you can buy them for.

with the stage 1 comp cams do you need to have the car tuned? that might be a stupid question

They say no, but I've heard that guys that have installed them throw codes shortly after. A trifecta tune would probably be advisable if you get these cams.

It is best to always have a tune after you do cams. However the stage 1 should be okay without one, it "shouldn't" throw a code at this stage...

this question may have been answered somewhere else but here it goes. With the trifect tune can I do everything my self or does it have to be dynoed? If so I have the slightest clue here in Indiana to get that done

When you buy the trifecta tune, they send you the handheld tuner with the tune loaded onto it. You plug it into your OBDII port and reflash the computer. It would probably be best to dyno it afterwards and have the A/F ratio measured so that if need be Vince can tweak the tune.

The Stage 1 Cams will make your car run very rough. If you even get it started. when it does start the idle will be very sloppy. and you'll get CEL after 10 min like that. If you have a manual you have to downshift every gear to come to a stop. you just cant let out the clutch and let the rpm's fall the ca will just stall.

Just get the Trifecta tune when you get the cams. it will make it so much easier. Vince will be able to data log the car to so you really wouldnt need a dyno unless you want hp #'s right away.

i know that jbodyperformance has a cam for the 06 LS. i asked them if it would work in my 07 and they said they had to change it from a magnetic pickup to an optical.

Uh, not sure exactly what this means, but.

In order to install Comp cams in an 07-08 L61 you need to remove the reluctor wheel from the stock intake cam and have it pressed on the Comp cam, you then need to have the intake cam shorted so it fits in the 07-up head(you need to cut off the P/S drive from the cam) GM doesnt use "optical" sensors anymore, and they were never part of the "cam" they were in the distributor or a dedictaed sensor assembly
