Winter Set up?
Winter Set up?
Ok I am thinking about getting some winter tires. I wanted to get just a set of 2 for the front. Is that crazy should I be getting 4 steelie wheels and 4 winter tires? I would think just the drive wheels would be the most important. Also if I do just get the front 16' steelies with winter tires and keep my rear wheels stock will I run into any problems with drivability? Thanx for any advice.
I'm looking to buy winter tires too and am planning on going with all four. Having driven in WI for 20 years I can tell you that rear traction is very important - even on front wheel drive cars. Being so front heavy and light in the rear these things like to try and lead with the rear end if you're not careful. It might not help you get going but having your rear tires stick around corners is a nice feeling.
Also if you look at Tire-rack or any of the sites they talk about this in some amount of detail. So even if I was speaking rectally before there is actually info out there supporting it.

Yeah I am thinking this winter I may let it ride. I live in Winchester Va. , and I don't think they get that much snow. (hopefully I am not kicking myself in the butt with that decision)
@ OP
Unless you already have all-seasons on and won't be doing a lot of highway driving, then it "might" be ok. As always getting all 4 would be your best bet.
I just got my 09. I am planning to get a set of all-seasons for the stock rims for the street and save the street tires for track days next year with a set of new track rims.

I am looking to sell my Stock 16" rims/covers and tires (5bolt) with only 3500 highway miles on them with no scratches or any damage what so ever. Looking for about $475 shipped. "No sensors" They are all season Hankook tires.

i suguest the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds they are an all weather tire but they are great on everything they may not be a true winter tire but they are directional and look pretty mean and have 130,000km warranty
yeah im looking at tires now. I put two good all-seasons on the front and left the summers on the back last year. And i unexpectedly did 2 180's driving slowly and can't belive I never hit anything. I was inches away from guardrails both times. I found a set of 16" saab 9-5 rims with blizzak tires on them im trying to get my hands on.
