LED Dome Light Question
LED Dome Light Question
Hey guys, had a question for you electronic experts out there. I bought a replacement style light for my dome, the type of light with the 2 loops (my 2.2 doesn't have a sunroof). Its an LED, pretty bright I must say, although I do have a bit of an issue. In the door mode - center, it should be off and come on when you open the door right? Well mine does... but when I'm driving, or when the car sits.. when the light should be OFF, its dimly lit. I tryed wiggling it around and moving it.. won't go out unless I take it out completely - duh. So my questions were: Anyone else out there with an LED issue like this? and How do fix this? Thanks for any help.

And dont worry about it draining your battery, you would have to have thousands of those led's to actually do something that drastic. You could probably leave that bulb on for the life of your car, and it would never drain your battery.
Its supposed to be like that. Leds are like dimmers when not in use in some cars. They have different shades of their light.

Good luck with 'em bugz
<----Look at my domelight, it's kewl!
Here's what happens... your LED domelight uses much less current than the stock bulb. There's some "residual current", if you will, that is in the domelight wires. Said current is not enough to illuminate the stock bulb but since LED's draw so little they light up a little bit. It's not drawing any more current than it was before, but the residual current is now visible.

Speakin of which, is it a good idea to install HIDs in stock headlamps? I'm actually thinking of either getting HIDs and putting em in my stockers or putting them in some CCFL projector headlamps.
You can put them in stocks, but your just going to be blinding people and attracting cops attention.
Ah alright. I'll be gettin the projectors soon. I need another paycheck so I have some "financial security" so to speak once i pay for those projectors lol. BTW, cheap place to get the CCFL's? I know some ebay places have them but I don't fully trust some of those places.
