View Full Version : majorly dissapointed
no_mo_tires 10-07-2008, 10:14 AM well I was thinking of getting one of the hahn racecraft kits ... then I realized I was looking at the one for the 2.4..... so I scroll down and see the 2.2 turbo kit.... rated at 198hp...... 198 MFHP......seriously? I would be cheaper/faster with a supercharger ..... for some reason this makes no sense to me..... someone expand my mind.... please.
Tazmanian_Dvl 10-07-2008, 10:15 AM it's a 2.2...

The tuning for the 2.2l engine was opened up VERY late in the game. I think they kinda slapped one together real quick and called it a day.
no_mo_tires 10-07-2008, 10:20 AM wow gee thanks for that a technical response ! .....
it's a 2.2...
Sharkey 10-07-2008, 09:27 PM the 2.2 just had tuning avalible by one company. hp tuners and efi live dont support the 2.2l. the turbo kits use a rising rate FMU to add fuel, it works ok but its far from good. with the compression, inablity to retard the timing, and very weak cast pistons, the 2.2l cant be pushed hard from a turbo kit.
INDColtsFan18 10-07-2008, 09:32 PM Thats not a horrible gain for being on a bad tune, i mean isnt that like 60hp?
HunterKiller89 10-08-2008, 12:10 AM #1, that is the garrett kit that Hahn sells. look it up on garretts website.
#2, thats with the factory settings, the turbo is not maxed at 198hp, but that is what garret felt to be a conservative tune that wouldnt damage any of the internals. You can retune via LS2edit if you have a '07+ or via Vince @ trifecta if you have any year cobalt.
#3, turbo swap?

fixed :twothumbs
Cobalt2921 10-08-2008, 12:57 AM And this is why I want to trade my LT in for an SS/TC - no power out of a 2.2 even possible..198hp.. screw that
Sharkey 10-08-2008, 01:07 AM power from a 2.2l is possible. i built a 2.2 eco swapped into a 90 sunbird and its making well over 300hp. you just really gotta want the power cause it is more work than an sc/tc

and this sentence clearly make sme believe that you didnt read my previous post at all. the turbo in the garrett kit is good to well over 250hp, i would guess like 300whp, though thats definitely pushing its efficiency range.
07cobalt4life 10-08-2008, 07:17 AM i think that is only if u run 8psi you can always change how much boost you have

correct it's just a matter of tuning the car :twothumbs4
going from 120hp to 190hp is an awesome upgrade!!!!
like already mentioned, you can build it up from there
