A Few Shift Plus Questions..

Hey guys..

Running a Shift Plus on my 2.4.. I thought I'd use it all the time, but I really don't. Probably mainly because of the huge thud it gives shifting from park.. And the fact that you can only advance your stage, but not drop it until the car is off.. Hmm.. Regardless, I wanted to know a few things..

1. Is this 100% safe to use? The thud is kinda off-putting..

2. Can you use this for long periods of time? As in, could you have it in stage 1 or 2 for a long highway run and it be OK? I'd assume since you're not really changing gears on the highway outside of 3-4..

3. How often do you really use it? I only really use it when I know I'm going to be driving spirited-like.. lol.

Thanks!

Yes it is, it was at first off-putting

2. Can you use this for long periods of time? As in, could you have it in stage 1 or 2 for a long highway run and it be OK? I'd assume since you're not really changing gears on the highway outside of 3-4..
I do all the time, on stage 2 and no problems

3. How often do you really use it? I only really use it when I know I'm going to be driving spirited-like.. lol.

With the extra line pressure it might actually help the transmission.

Hmm.. Interesting.. Heard that before..

The thing is that I'm getting a tune next year, so that'll kinda take care of the Shift Plus switch.. I'm getting a tranny cooler in the spring as well..

So what happens if you have a tune AND you put the Shift Plus on? lol. Does it turn into a rocket-ship..? lol

Indeed. Otherwise it seems very similar. I can't even get the tires to chirp in 2nd if I leave it in D, but if I manually go from L to I, the **** not only chirps, but squeals.. lol. It's kinda crazy.. I was down the road and did that.. My friend up the street was like "WTF was that?" I was like "My 2.4..haha" He didn't expect that.. And that was like a football field length too..

DING DING DING

You win, thats exactly why it doesnt hurt the trans, By increasing the line pressure it actually reduces clutch slip, reduces fluid shearing and fluid temp. The factory TCM will actually force full pressure shifts if it thinks your clutches are slipping or its being driven in a manner that will damage the trans, its a SAFETY feature.

It can be rough on your stock trans/engine mounts though...

Best advice, get a tranny tune that ups the line pressure and give new engine/tranny mounts. Don't waste your hard earned money on torque dampeners.
