Shift 1st to 2nd
Ive been driving this car for at least a couple years now and I still can't figure out how to shift 1st to 2nd well at high rpm. By that I mean anything over about 2500-3000 rpm. Ive tried dropping the clutch, smooth and steady, slipping the hell out of it, all at different rpm's. No luck at all. I want a nice smooth fast shift. What rpm do you guys shift at in first? Is it possible to have a smooth 1st to 2nd shift? I feel like it may just be how the gearing is. Its definitely the most difficult clutch to use compared to anything else I've driven.

Haha usally its the other way, shifting slow into 2nd at 3-3.5k is hard to get, takes practice to get it smooth that low. Shifting fast at high revs is always smooth for me, the car seems to like being reving out in 1st and going to 2nd ive notice most ppl say shift around 4k into 2nd, kinda matters on the acceleration u kinda have to go fast to shift fast into 2nd. Try to make ur rpm land on 2.5k'ish when ur let the clutch out after reving to 4kish. Mabe get new shifter cables make sure all that is in good shape. GL!

I hate shifting from 1st to 2nd with normal cruising. I've been driving stick for about 7 years, but for the life of me driving this car makes me feel like a noob. I shift in 1st at 4k and my rpms drop to 2k whn i get into second but its still sloppy now matter what. Slow granny shift or dumping the clutch. Other gears are smooth sailing.

Glad I'm not the only one... my 1-2 shifts are rough as fack, theirs such a continental gap between those gears... I find I shift it smoothest if I either shift VERY low or VERY high, anywhere in between leaves a nasty buck, and I dont want to let the clutch out too slow or I'll cause unnecessary wear on it.
I'm so used to it now though but passengers think the cars gonna fall apart lol, since I've started commuting in this car I've stopped caring, but threads like this make me realize again how awful that shift is....
1 (rev) wind up!!! ) clutch in (wait for RPMS to fall) ...still waiting....waiting *clutch back in, into second* (CLUNK CLUNK BUCK) meanwhile the jackass behind you has proceeded to ride up ur azz from the stoplight..... unless you've NLS and left him in the dust

When I'm driving normally, I'll take 1st to somewhere around 5k and let the RPM drop a good bit with the clutch pedal in before using 2nd. Car manufacturers usually put a wimpy 1st gear in cars so that they are easy to get rolling.
