We have a new supporting vendor called Vision bulbs. Try asking in his forum, he'd know, or will be able to get them for you. Good luck!

I was considering those a while ago but it is debatable about how bright they are...

it doesnt look like those would get much lateral dispersion since they are sort of angled inward. I picked up a set of {sigh} 3A racing LED bulbs at autozone, #3157 (3157 is the replacement for the 3057) and they work awesome. You had to use a little elbow grease and patience to get them into the housing but they look really good

Don't forget to use the resistor with indicators.

The LED will use alot less power and that will cause the flasher to speed up, it's real irritating.

Exclamation superbrightleds.com

http://superbrightleds.com has the greatest assortment of LED automotive bulbs available. They have more LED's per bulb than the competitors offer, they have both wide and narrow viewing angles available and they also have bulbs with radial mounted LEDs as well to better illuminate the lens. Narrow viewing angle = must be almost directly in line with LED to see the light; Wide viewing angle = more light can be seen from the side (more dispersion) but not as bright directly in line as Narrow viewing angle. Also, if your car has electronic flashers, you may not need resistors.

Hope this helps!!

that is correct, while the high speed flasher is more attention grabbing, the clicking inside speeds up too and gets annoying

We put the bulbs in my brother's 1993 S-10 which origianlly had a mechanical flasher but had already been replaced with an electronic one. The switch to the LED's did not increase the flash rate. He also just installed LED's in his 1999 Sierra with no change in flash rate.
On another note, the superbright site says they should not be installed in the front in the DRL's. For some reason all bulbs including LED's fail quickly in the DRL's.

So what do you all suggest then? Do the ones from AutoZone have them mounted on the sides as well for the fuller effect off of the reflectors or should I just get them from a website that sells ones with side mounted LEDs? Also... any problems with the police considering these are "for off-road use only"?

Personally, I saw go with superbright

I really recommend http://superbrightleds.com; they are great quality bulbs with the greatest assortment and they usually have the most LED's per bulb. To get the most of what you want, you should get the bulb with 18 LED's straight out and 6 radially mounted LED's. Be sure to get the red LED's. Always get the color LED that matches the color of the lens. They say this on the sight and I now know why from personal experience.

So I got impatient and bought 2 LED 3157 bulbs from Auto Zone tonight. They aren't too great. Plus, they did make my turn signals faster (but not my hazard blinkers... hmm). I don't mind the blinker speed... but I am going to order ones online that have the radial mounted LEDs as well. These ones are pretty bright (and cool looking), but I would like the radial mounted ones even better.

I am also gonna buy the superbright led's for my car. I'm gonna get the 25 LED 19 out back, 6 radially mounted in red for the tail/brake lights, the 6 LED red for rear side markers, 6 LED yellow (amber) for the front side marker and perhaps the 15 LED RED for the 3rd brake light.
Until I pull a fuse to deactive the DRL's I'm not gonna install the 25 LED yellow (amber) in the front b/c they will just burn right out. I hate the bright yellow DRL's, I always turn on my fog lights to cut them off and still have the fog lights and parking lights on to be seen by others. I wish I could make the foglights activate as my DRL's. I'm in a financial bind and can't justify spending over $50 for all the LED's yet, so I wanna see how much better you like them than the one's from Autozone. I'm gonna buy all of my LED's at one time. Also, if you or anyone else is interested: there is a company that makes liscense plate frames in both chrome and black with a row of 40 LED's that operate in both tail light mode and super freakin' bright in brake mode. The difference b/n tail and brake mode on these frames is far more noticeable than any other LED's I've seen. Just found the site, here's a link to the page for auto frames:
http://www.signaldynamics.com/produc...mes/autolp.asp
My car is black so I am gonna get the black one.

If you don't like the DRLs I think you can just turn off the auto lights (turn the headlight switch backwards to deactivate auto lights). That should turn them all off. At least that's how they worked on my parent's 04 Grand Prix.

Yeah I'm gonna wait a few days maybe to order those taillights so I'll let you know when I get them. I have an idea for my front turn signals... I wanna take them apart to paint the housing. So when I do that, I want to see if I can take out that amber lens that sits behind them and put in a Sylvania Silverstar turn lamp. They are actually silverish when off, then light up amber. I think that would look a lot better than that ugly amber lens. Now if I could only figure out a way to get that other amber side marker lens out of the headlight and still keep it legal...

I never thought about the LED side markers in the back. I'll have to check that out too. And as for the license plate... I'm not a fan, but if you like it, go for it. Make sure to post pics. In fact, when I go home on Saturday (I'm staying down at my gf's place tonight) I should take some pics of my LED tails for now.

Also, I'm kinda new to this LED lighting thing... does anyone know specifically how to fix the blinker speed with LEDs? I'd love to have some specific info on how to do that with our car.

The LED's might have had a resistor built into them. Some Amber LED bulbs have this as part of their design... Most dont.

Ummmm

UMM two things for two of you:

I do know how to turn the DRL's off, but I don't want to have to turn them off every time I start my car. I'd rather my fog lights and parking lights activate in place of my DRL's.

The bulbs we installed were red, not amber and like I said we were using an electronic flasher.

I bought from superbrightleds last year for my grand prix when i replaced every light on the inside with the white led's. I've already done it to my cobalt. It's a great company and the assortment is wonderful, not to mention the shipping is pretty descent on time.

Can Harldy Wait

I know I can hardly wait to hear what you think of the Superbright LED's. Remember, if you plan on taking pics of the car in the dark, try turning the flash off b/c the reflectors will reflect very brightly from the camera flash.

Haha... don't worry cobaltcoupecrazy... I've done still/video photography for 6 years. You'll get to see some nice pics. I'm heading home within an hour here. I'll get them installed and take pics once it's dark out. I'll put them in this thread later tonight.

Pics

Sorry it took so long. Here are pics of my taillights from superbrightleds.com. They are all night pictures... so you have to bear with me until I get some daytime pics. They aren't as orange as they look in these...

Far away (brakes off).

Far away (brakes on).

Closer view (brakes off).

Close up (brakes off).

Close angled view (brakes off).

They are pretty good overall. It's hard to tell, but they fill out the lens better than the ones from AutoZone. They still cause the turn signals to flash fast (but not the hazzard lights). I have my AutoZone ones out now... so if anyone wants them they were $18... I'll sell them way cheaper (I used them for 7 days).

Yeah now I just have to get load resistors. I'd prefer a normal flash rate.
