big power drain? help me?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
okay i have a 06 ls i have a 600w bazooka amp connected straight to battery with fuse and all and one more power wire for my switchs in the front thats all i have hooked up to the battery and then i have my underglow from the fuse box ona switch but for some reason my car will die everyonce in awhile for no reason. and i try to jump it from the front and it just clicks so i jump it from the back and jumpps fine. its done this about 4 times maybe. so i take it down to the shop and he says its nothing ive done but theres a drain coming from somewhere in the main power so dose anyone have any ideas?

Well heres something you can do to narrow it down to whats causing the drain.
You take a 12v car bulb and or an ammeter and disconnect the positive cable and wire the bulb between the disconnected positive and the terminal on the battery.
Leave the ignition off and the bulb should light up (Brightness depends on the draw).
If the bulb is litup start disconneting suspected componets each time checking to see if the light goes out or dims (there should be a small draw from some things that require power in the car ,security etc.)
If you cant find it this way start with one fuse at a time.

Had second thought and an ammeter would be better.(cheap one will do)
disconnect the positive from the battery.
Put one lead on the cable end you took offf and the other on to the positive terminal of the battery
Make sure you have the meter leads pluged into the meter properly to read amps not voltage.
Set the meter to read amp
If you have a current draw you should get a reading ,I would think between .5 to 1 amp say for your idle amp.
Im not sure what the draw is but you could say turn on your vanity light and see how much it changes.
Now you have to start disconnecting thing to see if the reading drops.
Start with the stereo amp.(unplug it and check the reading on the meter)
Just reread your post and Your amp should have the trigger wire hooked to the radio to turn it off and on otherwise it will always be on.
Good luck.
