I am fairly new to the modification process. I did a bit of intake modding already but id like a bit of a deeper exhaust sound. anybody help out? idea's?
nothing tooo pricey...dont know if i need/want to replace the whole system...

looking for a place around the lower mainland to purchase the items..or possibly ebay if necessary.

you may be able to order a it from mopac in langley, or mabey even lordco. anything you order will be a cat-back kit. you could always go into an exhaust shop and talk to them about putting an aftermarket muffler on if you dont want a cat-back.

GMPP Touring and the Corsa Touring are both good choices. Very low and deep tone and not too loud.

I have the GMPP Performance catback. I like it alot. The kid I bought it off of though, I believe gutted the front silencer or something because it is louder than any other GMPP Performance pipe I've been around, however it still sounds very nice. Honestly. Everyone who hears it says that it sounds very good.. For something like that, you can also buy used and save money.. A weld-on muffler would give you sound, but really no performance gain.. Maybe like 1/2 just for being a more free-flow set-up.. But a cat-back (especially on the 2.2 because of it's stock smaller piping) will certainly yield more.. It opens the car up alot. I'm getting the header/dp/cat next then it'll all be done. If you don't want to do a full catback (because you'll probably spend even $400 or so for a used one), you can buy a universal muffler for under $100 and get it welded on for probably like $40 bucks.. I might do this for my girlfriends LS just bcause she could give a damn about hp increase.. Her ****'s slow anyway..

hahaha..alright...well because i just have the basic LS and no other mods..HP is a not huge concern yet...more about the look and sound of it for now..and down the road maybe start workin on the HP
I figure if i get a good muffler and just get it welded (which can be done in my own garage) then later on i could just replace from that muffler back to the cat with larger piping if i wanted to..i think?

If you want to hear mine, give me a shout. I have a custom cat-back w/ magnaflow from Clear Image Automotive in Kent, WA (also supporting vendors on this forum & g5club). They are great people there. I also have their 4-1 header & downpipe, running 2.5 all the way back... sounds real nice. I'm running a 2.2 just the same as you .

May be best to give them a shout, say you're from CobaltSS forums and looking to get the whole package: header, dp, catback in one go. They may cut you quite the deal plus install.

I'd just do a universal weld-on for now.. Save the monies.. The catback won't yield enough power to warrant the cost at this point for you..

Anywho... had mine done at Clear Image Auto in Kent Washington.. its about a 2.5 hour drive south of the border from Vancouver.

If you can do it yourself, you could probably pickup the whole setup and save good on the install/labour costs. Maybe even watch to see if they have another group buy. I found most local places such as Lordco, to be fairly expensive... and if you are going to buy south of the border in Washington... better do it soon since our loonie is falling in value.

Thanks alot guys for the info..i dont know too much about pricing..so if Clear Image Auto is pretty decent in price then i guess i can trust them...i noticed lorca and such to be expensive and so i quickly backed away from that route

i dont know if i shoudl go all the back to the headers...unless its REALLY worth it in qualy and price..if there is a huge gap in price from running and cat-back compared to going to the headers then ill prob stick with just the cat-back...and like you said..the loonie is droppin down a huge cliff right now..stupdi economy..lol
