Installing hahn Exhaust Question!!
Installing hahn Exhaust Question!!
Last night i went to go and look at My exhaust system and was going to install it and started looking at the flange that it bolts too and its a 3 hole flange and the exhaust system i got from Hahn is the two bolt flange... Is everyones like that or am i suppose to have the 3 bolt flange????
does your exhaust bolt up to the downpipe, or the manifold? maybe you're looking at the wrong flange? that's the only thing I can think of, I haven't done any work on the new 2.0's yet. on all the older cobalts the exhaust connects to the downpipe with a 2 bolt flange, and the downpipe connects to the manifold with a 3 bolt flange. so unless something is different, maybe you're just looking at the wrong connection.
I think that when you are ordering from Hahn you are supposed to let them know you have an SS/TC so they can send you the right one...
For the ss/tc Hahn should have sent you a 3 hole adapter. The adapter is a short piece of SS mounted to a 3-hole flange. It simply slips inside of the first piece of the exhaust. There is a 2 hole flage which connects the first piece of the exhaust to the second piece of the exhaust. This is due to having to get the exhaust to mount over the top of the rear axle. I had mine professionally installed due to 1.) Not being able to reach the top bolt and apply enough torque to break it free and 2.) The stock exhaust being mounted over the rear axle....good luck!
The flange where the downpipe attaches to the turbo is a sqaure 4 bolt, the flange after the cat is a triangle 3 bolt.
The only way I was able to get at the top bolt of the triangle was to remove the entire downpipe assembly - its easier to get to those bolts and drop the downpipe, bolt the 3 bolt flange up, and reattach the downpipe to the turbo then try to get that top bolt out. I dont see how it would even be possible.
To get the stock exhaust out just cut the pipe at the axle and take it out in two pieces.
