Cruise Control

I am from California and bought a 2006 ss s/c, and i am driving on the highway and want to put cruise on, but the cruise light flashes once, and keeps on doing it when i hit cruise, so i looked at clutch switch, fine, and i dissconnect battery, for about 20 mins, and reconnect battery and drive the car and cruise works. Well i just got back home to kentucky and cruise worked good driving from cali to here in Elizabethtown kentucky and it stopped working, what could be the cause of this?

Thanks

If you ride the clutch pedal or if your pants or leg pushes on the clutch pedal while your driving it disables cruise. Its annoying but normal.

Of course it is possible that youve got an actual failure but like 95% of these issues are caused by the pressure on the clutch pedal while driving.

Just disconnect the battery again and BE SURE youre leg is nowhere near the clutch pedal next time youre using cruise, if you do that and it STILL faults, se a dealer as youve got an issue

I had this happen to me the other day on the way to work. It was working one minute then I tapped the clutch to disengage because of traffic then the cruise wouldnt engage again. When I got off work it worked again. I know I wasnt riding the clutch or brake and I tried pulling the pedals up.

Just reset the PCM again by unplugging the battery. Mine did the same thing where I disconnected the battery and it worked fine for awhile and then stopped again. I just reset the battery about 2 more times and haven't had a problem since. Just make sure when you use the cruise that you don't press the clutch just disengage the cruise by using then button and then press your clutch.

the actual problem (In my case was a programing issue, as the standard programming was not conductive to my driving issue) is that you need to go through so many gears after so many clutch presses. I think it's like 30 clutch presses and 10 gears or something. If you don't change gears enough the cruise gets dissabled. I'm not sure why, but I know that driving in stop and go traffic causes my cruise to do this. The dealer can clear the code in about 5 min. So either stop riding the clutch, stop driving in stop and go traffic without go through more gears (as in no leaving it in first and stopping and pressing the cluthc in and then releasing clutch just to stop after 5 feet.) and also, no Driving on the highway for a long time and using cruise, but then pressing the clutch in to dissengage the cruise only to not change gears and go back to cruiseing. (Say cruising at 80 and hit traffic so press clutch to slow down to 65 but not have to change gears....we did this on the way home from Disney and it set it off too) Hope I made that clear enough.
