best tire size for 18x7.5 rim?

i was thinking about 215/35 or 40, should i go wider? what is the widest i can get, but still keep a uniform shape, you know no overhang?

235/40 will work quite well....they actually look quite nice on the stock rim.

oh sorry, i have an LS and plan on getting 18x7.5 rims (after winning the lottery) and was wondering, ive read that 235 would be cutting it awful close, i think i'll go with 225/35 or 40. tirerack.com reccomends 215/40 for this tire, i just might take their reccomendation, ill talk to a sales rep when i'm closer to buying.

215/45R18 is stock for the SS S/C. BadMunkey is running 235/40R18 right now with just a slight mod (2 extra screws) to prevent rub.

Im running 235/40 on my STOCK wheel with no issue of rubbing at all. It seems like a perfect size for the rim. A sales rep at tire rack actually called and recommended that I shouldn't buy them for my cobalt unless it was "modified" somehow he said, LMAO.
