Getting Tires mounted..........
Getting Tires mounted..........
I just called Tires Plus and they quoted me a price of 52.64 plus tax to mount and balance two wheels, holy crap !!! This seems very expensive but I have not had this done in years.
One thing I was wondering about is what if they scratch my rims (I have the 2006 gun metal painted rims), will they make things right or is it just tough luck. The guy I talked to said they will probably get scratched, WTF ???

that's normal.... I paid $26 for each wheel to mount and balance.... then Victory told me Walmart does it for $8.50 each wheel
unless you have proof that they did it... it's your word against theirs

So a lifetime balance and install with TPMS would cost $74; about $26 cheaper than most tire places. Has anyone had tires mounted before at Walmart? I'm not sure if I could trust them to do a quality job. If the Walmart greeter has any indication as to what kind of job the tire center would do I would be worried. In case you are wondering the greeter failed to "greet" me when I walked into Walmart. She was young and attractive but just stood there as I walked by and she did not greet me or anyone else, Walmart FTL.
My work has a new upright SnapOn tire changer. It's the cat's pajamas. Balancer there too. Oh, did I mention there's a lift too? :P slipped my Blizzak WS-60's onto my steelies in about two hours. And that was with BSing with my boss. :P
OMG, two hours to mount 4 tires to wheels!?!? You mean to tell me it does not take about ten minutes per wheel? No wonder places charge $25 per wheel to install. Does it take hammers, crowbars, and elbow grease to get those things on? I assume it is hard to get them on if it takes two hours, but why does it take so long?
it should take no longer then an hour to, lift the car, remove the wheels from the car, remove old rubber, install new rubber balance and remount to vehicle. i should know i do this for a living. granted the stiffer and bigger the rim and rubber are then add on a little bit of time for that but no longer then an hour. and if the shop has the right tools and qualified people doing the work your rims should not get scratched one bit, before you leave the shop or sign any paper work, look over your rims and make sure there is no damage.
have the service person you talk to go out and look at the rims with you and have them notorize (sp) that there is no damage to rims prior to service. the shop i used to work at had lifetime balance when you payed mounting for 30 bucks a tire. and they are prolly charging you more for 18 inch rims as well
they shouldn't be charging more for a bigger size rim. at the dealer i work at we charge a with the purchase of tires a base rate of $20 for all size's from 14" to 22" doesn't matter the size.

ya i know i read the part where you were bs'ing with the boss. at my old shop the foreman office was right next to the mag rim machine where we did all the corvette, chrome, and reverse mount rims. those ones would usually take us about the same time just due to all the bs'ing we would do with boss.
True, Walmart will mount a tire for $8.50 when you have TPMS and even cheaper without. While they do mount tires for $8.50, they do not balance them. Balancing is a separate price, $10 per tire lifetime or $7.50 one time.
