Exclamation Need help with tires, sizes and brands...plz...

Probably been beaten like a dead horse, but...

What is the difference between our stock tire size (215/40/18 i believe) and what ive been looking everyone has now... (225/45/18) is this a wider tire? or what about 225/40? will these sizes fit the stock SS/SC wheels? im a newb and only know truck sizes...

Also, i am wanting a fairly inexpensive tire but i want to have good wear and grip... ive been looking at

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 (174.00 per tire)

Falken Ziex ZE-912 (113.00 per tire)

Kumho Ecsta SPT (100.00 per tire)

Yokohama S.drive (154.00 per tire)

yes...225 is wider. The 40 represents a % of how tall the tire is compared to how wide it is.

this will show you the difference in sizes, and associated speedo errors, etc.

tire rack should offer an optional size for ss/sc - pretty sure its the 225/40. thats what i'm running on my car now, and have for the last two.

as far as the choices listed, i had the spts, lasted about 30k. wear got pretty uneven across the tires at the end, but they had decent grip, in dry or wet, as long as it was warm. damn scary the one time i tried them in the snow, though.

have the kdw2s now. if anything, they squeal a bit quicker than the kumhos, but seem to grip slightly better. definitely noisier than the kumhos. like the looks, but not sure that they're worth the extra money for the difference. when i need my next set at about 115k, i'm going to go back to the cheaper kumhos.

I've heard the Kumho's wear out extremely fast despite their high tread rating. For the money, Nexen N3000's are hard to beat if you want performance on a budget. If you want to support American companies, go with BFG g-force sport, kdw 2's, or General Exclaim UHP's.

Are you lowered? If so how far did you drop. I'm asking bc I've heard that a couple guys with 235's were running at times and you have 245's ????
