Brembos when its cold?

My car literally has no stopping power when my brembos are cold. I literally almost rearended someone when it was cold out and they werent warmed up, Thank god for my e brake. Does anyone have this problem. And what could possibly be wrong with them i mean there is no stopping. I have only had the car for a month and a half.

I've only noticed it if it's cold AND they are wet. Then they dry off after the first stop and it's all good.

Otherwise I don't have any problems. It was -20 to -30 F a couple weeks ago too. Actual temp....

The SS/TC's braking system seems more prone to corrosion than any other vehicle I've driven. I'd guess it's due to the high metallic compound of the system, the same reason we get squeak. It's when the brakes are corroded that you get zero stopping power...

If my car's been sitting a while, I pump the brakes until they start working before I get into traffic or onto a main thoroughfare.

No such problem, and I am also from NY. I also knew people with after market pads that are less effecient initially in the cold than our stock pad, and they also have no issues.

Same here... if they feel numb, slam or pump the brakes and you're good to go.
It's been -28 to -35 celcius here these past couple of days and it was fine until I got snow in the wheels.
It's not so much the cold as it is the corrosion / snow build up.

Only experienced this once, and it happened when we had "freezing fog"

I think the rotors litterally froze over, and I had very limited stopping power until I could warm them up enough to thaw them. I noticed it right away when I was backing out of the parking spot.

yah I get poor stopping power if its been sitting in the cold for the day. After 5mins of driving its fine though. However I am still waiting for my dealer to get the goddamn rear pads.

with High Performance brakes they must me warmed up to function normally!!!! I commute 51 miles each way and last week it was -20 w/ the wind chill.... I have to continually heat my brakes up if I don't use them for a while (they cool down).

not very, coldest i've ever seen it here is upper 50's. but i do go to big bear alot and other snow covered dreamlands and when i start the car up at night the brakes work fine.

water can form in brake lines due to overheating which could possibly be the case for him.

No, what he's experiencing is something you never have. It's just corrosion on the rotors exacerbated by the extreme cold... Any SS/TC driver where it drops below -20C will likely confirm the same happens to them if they let the car sit.

fixed, and go figure. maybe it's time for an upgrade, GM will only replace them with the same shitty rotor.

I don't like it, but I somehow doubt your Hawk system would hold up well below -20 either.

I drove mine through a cold snap of -30 or lower...but didn't notice any issues with my braking system...then again it was RIGHT off the lot with almost 0 miles.

I have problems as well, also when i go to leave my rear brakes act like they are active and my car does not want to move then it makes a loud pop noise and finally breaks free.
