Excessive tire noise from 45-70mph

So driving the SS/TC the other day I noticed that while reaching speed of 45-70 mph, I get a lot of tire noise..seems to be coming from the front left....sort of a buzzing sound...and it can even be felt in the pedal. And this was not temp related because it was fine on even colder days. The tires also appear to be intact.

Other then the noise, the car is functioning perfectly. Any ideas as to why the tires would be making noise like this?

If you read the reviews on tirerack for the continental tires on our cars many people have complained that the tire, while being very quiet when new, gets very noisy as the tires wear. That could be what you are experiencing how many miles are on your car?

That is the same mileage as my car has and mine are still ok. How worn are they? Any irregular wear at all? On some road surfaces my tires do generate an annoying pitch at 45-65 mph, they always have and it depends on the asphalt. Keep any eye on them if they get louder or start wearing funny bring it to the dealer and see if they are willing to do anything about it. If not, tirerack has a huge selection of tires some far better than the contis on our cars.

I dunno cause I have Dunlop Snow tires and I started getting the same type of noise after installing them. I even rebalanced the back left where the sound is coming from but the balance was fine. It almost sounds like a wheel bearing. Im not doing anything yet, Im going wait until spring when I put the summer tires back on and see what happens. Im hoping its just noisy snow tires....seems unlikely though seeing it only appears to be coming from one corner.

I have 6800mi so mine started probably right around 6000mi.

Thats exactly the problem I am having

As for wear, they seem to all be fairly even...tire pressure is 35 psi across the board as well. Seems kind of strange that this is happening. If it is wheel bearings (which I hope it isnt) what sort of repair cost is it. And would it be covered under warranty?

Can you feel it in the wheel? I noticed you're from NJ which I would assume has some snow on the ground?

-I would check the inside of the wheels/rims to see if there is any snow/ice build up causing the vibration. The rear wheels especially like to cake up with mud and/or snow on the inside causing vibration and needless trips to the dealer, etc.

The wheel has no vibration, but it can actually be felt in the pedal.

Checked the inside of the wheels....no ice or mud

If it is a wheel bearing you can jack up your car and rotate each wheel and see if you hear any grinding or scraping noises. Bring it to the dealer if it gets any worse for sure and have them figure it out.

If you are feeling it in the pedal it could be a really bad wheel bearing. Does the noise go away at all when you let off the throttle. If so it could be something in the driveline. Gear whine maybe. either way that is not cool at all.

I brought it to the shop today and told him the exact situation and that people think it might be a wheel bearing or bad tires. He looked at it about it and after about 20 minutes, he got back to me and said the front left wheel bearing was shot.....looks like you guys were right!

Should be fixed by Monday.

Dammit! I was hoing it wouldnt be the wheel bearing. The strange thing is everyone else is getting it in the front left, Im getting it in the left rear. My thoughts for possible causes were:
1) Noisy Snow tires
2) Rotor grind from the messed up rear brakes.
3) Tire ot of balance (Which I already checked out and it wasnt)
4) Wheel bearing

If yours was a bearing theres a good chance mine is too, Im going to have to bring it into my dealer. Did they give you any reason why the bearing would have gone so soon? My car has 6800mi and its been noisy since about 5000mi!!
