Nah... I wasn't at SIR. There are a few SS/RL guys that own bikes though. Rippin07 08-28-2007, 12:34 PM Okay, I will throw mine in too. Saskatoon here, 07 silver SS/SC with Chrome trim. Omega_5 08-28-2007, 12:35 PM Okay, I will throw mine in too. Saskatoon here, 07 silver SS/SC with Chrome trim. That trim is frikin nice! :twothumbs Rippin07 08-28-2007, 01:56 PM Thanks for the kind words Tyler, we will have to get together sometime, hopefully my parts come this week and I can get on the Port and Polish. Going to head to Swift Current for the drag races on Sept. 8. be nice to get the mods done before then. superTAN 08-28-2007, 02:11 PM I might head out ot Swift Current for those. Thats where I am from and I have a couple friends that have been buggin me to come. Watch for the Yellow SC! Omega_5 08-28-2007, 02:16 PM ... I wouldn't mind going down there for that. I mean... to race on a beauty of a track would be nice. I have a feeling I won't be ready though.... most of my parts are supposedly in transit. :( Silver Bullet 08-28-2007, 07:15 PM That trim is frikin nice! :twothumbs I like that too Rippin07 08-28-2007, 09:03 PM Swift is home for me too Supertan, It will be good to see another SS/SC there because my friends will be flaming me for not bringing out the Camaro to the races. :nono: I am curious to see how the thing goes on a prepped track. Should be fun. Tyler, are they the parts that you told me about? When are they supposed to be here? My stuff arrived today, so hopefully this week I will get it all done. 07BlackSS/SuperCob 08-29-2007, 01:14 AM swift current has a better track? i've heard sir gives bad times because they don't use traction compound Asphalt Assault 08-29-2007, 01:24 AM TOOO far away. would love to go. any tracks closer to manitoba Rippin07 08-29-2007, 01:30 AM SIR doesnt really give bad times, but yeah, Friday night street legal drags, they use no track prep whatsoever!! :nono: So goodbye traction. Swift Currents Drag strip is a 2 year old runway that is perfectly flat and extremely wide. The starting line gives you about 160 ft of concrete for the launch, much better than ashphalt at SIR. Many of the 8 and 9 second cars are 'dead hooking' :twothumbs (that says something!) Starting at about 5:30am, they drag a 1800lb skid steer tire up and down the 1/4 mile on both sides a shit load of times to lay down some fresh rubber, then follow that with about 35-40 gallons of VHT traction compound throughout the day. They also have a brand new timing and light system that is probably the best in Western Canada bar none!! No billboards to light things up at the end, but that sounds like it is coming real soon. Racing I think is only $20.00 which is extremely cheap as you are getting a prepped track. Race at SIR and you will be paying around $45.00 for a prepped track. Another thing is that in Swift, guys are easily getting about 12 runs with cool down time in between, they are going hardcore and race as late as possible. On a feature day at SIR, good luck getting your 3 runs in. I know this from experience. The club there is new but is doing very very well, I know all the guys as they are friends of mine that started and operate the club. I am going to support them on the 8th as the more tracks we have the better. I believe they also have payouts for racing, be consistent and win. last time first place was $600.00 I believe. Last year one of the guys that races a green turbo civic hatch from stoon won first or second place. Hopefully the weather is good. Later. Tyler, you have two weeks, hopefully everything is in before that time. Omega_5 08-29-2007, 01:37 AM Yeah, it's mostly the stuff I told you about. My exhaust might be here and be installed before then, but the other stuff it supposedly under going UPS (:barf:) issues. Even if it came in beofre then, I'd have to bigger around with HPT for a few weeks before I'd be comfortable racing with it. 07BlackSS/SuperCob 08-29-2007, 07:27 PM I just got a quote from SMP for the stage 2, $810 for parts, ~$300 for install, sound about right for those who already have it? xteek 09-01-2007, 06:06 AM whats up guys... just bought a new cobalt ss/sc and i'm pretty stoked... hope for a meet or something in the future, maybe the jbody and v6z24 guys will want to join in. superTAN 09-01-2007, 02:54 PM I just got a quote from SMP for the stage 2, $810 for parts, ~$300 for install, sound about right for those who already have it? yeah I think that sounds about right.... mine was much cheaper but I have connections lol 07BlackSS/SuperCob 09-01-2007, 05:32 PM yeah I think that sounds about right.... mine was much cheaper but I have connections lol k, thanks, i was actually told a higher price than that buy some guy who has a cobalt, which was already cheaper than i had expected, i'll probably order it next week welcome here xteek CobaltOrange 09-06-2007, 05:58 PM Thought I replied to this thread at some point, guess not. Alpine_Canada 09-08-2007, 09:07 PM We should probably have another meet soon before snow flies (which could be tomorrow for all we know) and some people put your cars away for the winter. Just a thought. Rippin07 09-08-2007, 09:17 PM Im up for a meet, the sooner probably the better, before school gets too crazy. superTAN 09-08-2007, 09:43 PM and before I get my steelies on... yuck 07BlackSS/SuperCob 09-08-2007, 11:01 PM a meet would be cool, gives me a reason to get the car all cleaned up :) Asphalt Assault 09-08-2007, 11:03 PM FYI friendly neighbors:ca: . A fellow manitoba cobalt owner (Kennyspec) has a GMS2 for sale. can be had with HPTuners as well. he is going TURBO!! Kit works well. he is a good guy. we could meet you part way for shipping for the right price. LOL. or just send it on a beaver bus or what ever you want. Parcel post works too just not as fast. He made a deal for I think 750US plus shipping. Sweet deal IMO. he is losing alot. anyway the deal does not look good as the other party has not sent money yet. thought I would pass it along incase someone was interested. You could probably scoop it before the other party actually anti's up. He may still have a 2.8 pulley for it too? and before I get my steelies on... yuck How are the TINTS:twothumbs ...LOL too bad I didnt meet you. Ewww steelies. you may as well said I wear fleece pajamas to bed. LOL. later. jschatte 09-08-2007, 11:19 PM im in moose jaw and its awsome how many css.net'ers from saskatchewan there are! Omega_5 09-10-2007, 05:27 PM Im up for a meet, the sooner probably the better, before school gets too crazy. How did the race day go in Swift? CobaltOrange 09-10-2007, 06:29 PM I'd be interested in the 2.8 pulley :P I'm down for a meet anytime before Oct, either Saskatoon or Regina. Or just go for a rip around for people that are in Regina. Omega_5 09-10-2007, 06:59 PM I'm down for a meet anytime before Oct, either Saskatoon or Regina. I posted up a meet for this Saturday. I would love to meet up though. Alpine_Canada 09-10-2007, 08:09 PM Ya i was gonna say this saturday as well looks alright for a meet. Hopefully no spontanious plans happen so I can make this one. SKCobalt 09-11-2007, 02:09 AM I'd be interested in the 2.8 pulley :P I'm down for a meet anytime before Oct, either Saskatoon or Regina. Or just go for a rip around for people that are in Regina. How does thursday night at about 7-7:30ish in Regina. Location????? Omega_5 09-11-2007, 11:58 AM Or just go for a rip around for people that are in Regina. Hmmm.... you ride a bike too, eh? Please say you don't ride with the SSBgay group.... please..... Rippin07 09-11-2007, 02:53 PM The races in Swift were amazing!!! The turn out was huge, from slowpokes, but nice cars to some of the nicest and wildest rides I have seen in a long time. My balt ran faster, however my 60's were the worst, 14.9 w/ 2.83 60' Yuck!! These hockey pucks suck period. One of the highlites was a dodge dart, flat black and pretty quiet rolling up to the line, Burnout, hmmmm did I hear a plane overhead? Off the line, holy hell!!! loss of traction the entire 1/4 mile. Time 10.30 speed north of 137mph. Talk to the owner in the pits, 527 cid BBD with get this......108mm Turbo!!!!!! the day before the races, he smacked down over 1300rwhp on the dyno!!! That car was F'ing cool. Also, a 1997 Z28, one of the cleanest I have ever seen, 427sbc fuel injected through the 6 speed ran 10.29 @ 134mph traction limited. This was naturally aspirated. Over 125 cars in all and an awesome day. They raced from 8:30 am, yes we were running that early until 7:30 pm!!! There was no way you would not get a shit load of runs in if you wanted. PS. Stage 2 --- here is a myth buster.... the stage 2 tune for 07 is different than the 05-06 tunes. Alot different. Raptors and I just checked it out w/ HPT and compared. Not even close. Omega_5 09-11-2007, 03:05 PM WOW! I assume the 14.9 was on your Stage 2. I'd have thought that S2 would lower the times by more than .3s. But you right about the tires... I don't think I'd ever buy a set of Pirelli's ever again. Nothing but traction issues. :thumbsdow Also, I had a feeling that the S2 tunes were different, considering that the basic factory tune from 06 to 07 was different too. 11 hours of racing..... that's awesome! I think there is an afternoon event at SIR coming up on the 23rd. Are you gonna head out for that one too? Rippin07 09-11-2007, 03:12 PM I will head out to that one too, Need to check out the mph diff. once I try a few things. The car was actually better than .3s better if you take into account the worse 60's. So it is pulling harder for sure. Not only that, second gear was spin to 6500 rpm as well, not good for times. So in a nut shell, second gear was as usefull as first, not at all. only the last 500rpm had traction and then its third gear pull to the end. I will admit, my fast cars are rwd and I can feather them like nothing, still getting used to the fwd. Omega_5 09-11-2007, 03:55 PM That's been my problem... trying to feather on a FWD isn't as easy as it sound... CobaltOrange 09-11-2007, 08:22 PM Hmmm.... you ride a bike too, eh? Please say you don't ride with the SSBgay group.... please..... I actually only know a handful of people that ride bikes, those are the only people I have rode with. I could try for around 7ish for Thursday. :D As for having a meet for Saturday, I would have to make the trip to Saskatoon, but it would be nice to meet a few others with balts! I just don't know the city very well for getting places. Alpine_Canada 09-11-2007, 08:53 PM WOW! I assume the 14.9 was on your Stage 2.
