I recently got my 09 cobalt and Im new to the site

Its a ss if anyones wondering.

I abused it pretty bad already ( some of the damage wasn't my fault )
-Crack on the upper wind shield ( rock flew on it )
- My front bumper is scratched up pretty bad ( right side )
- Rim scratched
- Wheels messed up

At least I got a 5 year warranty ( maybe stick wasn't a good choice for the first car )
Well its in the past now but how much do you think each part will cost?

Ooo future upgrades
- blacked out rims ( my car is black )
-tinted windows
-I was thinking blow off valve but it might attract too much attention and can cause complications i hear
Im not much of the performance geek but you know later on Ill get to it.
For now I'm heading towards the exterior modifications any suggestions on what I could do?
Lights, Tints, etc etc..

Welcome! If you want the blacked out look you can nightshade your tails or have them professionally painted and then either get AVS head light covers, get projectors w/ black housings, or paint your stock housing black. I'd go at least 20% tint. If you rim is scratched, either have it replaced under warranty (if you can) or have it fixed when powdercoated/painted. Good luck with getting everything fixed and enjoy your sexy car!

P.S. - Your first performance mod should definitely be a tune!

not respecting a brand new car aggravates the **** out of me !!!! i understand you can not avoid things like stone chips or some minor scuffs/scrapes, but what has happened to this poor SS already is a shame. i drive my car like it is made out of gold even though it is only a cobalt .... respect what you have man and good luck with your car in the future.

true, you have to respect your car man, when i first got my car, in the first week i had it a friend of mines little bro (he was 15 at the time) opened up the door and hit the mirror of the car next to it. It put a little ding in the door. I got so pissed off at him, i left him in the parking lot and he had to find another ride home.
Respect your car man. And if you didnt know how to drive stick you shoudve got a beater to learn on, and then bought the balt.
as for the parts. Windshield is porbly gonna be about $300 to replace, although if its a small chip you could use that windshield repair stuff from autozone.
wheels are gonna be expensive. Although if you want them black, if the scratches are light im sure you could sand them out and paint over it.
Front bumper is probly gonna be another 200-300 +paint

Im 16, but you don't think I have respect for it?? I drive it like a bently now. Those damages happened because my relatives made me immediately drive it on the streets and I was nervous with no stick experience. I stalled and stalled. It allll happened in the first week. Except the wind shield but whose fault is that?

In a few months Ill have all of it replaced and be more careful.

It's ok. lol nice car for being 16... lol my parents handed me a 3yr old Cavy back in the day and said here you go... But I was lucky enough to get that.

Hey don't worry about it. Yeah I might be the first to admit this but back when I got my SS/SC (I was a few years older) my dad wouldn't even let me drive it home from the dealer and I'm glad he did that because I probably would have stalled and wouldn't have made it out of the dealer parking lot...

Umm if you're paying that out of pocket, new front fascia and those rims are like 300-500 new, could cost you 1-2k easy...

Sometimes **** happens. When I brought my car home from the dealer it was only the second time in my life I drove a stick and I made it fine. Sure I stalled and squealed a few times but I was expecting to. I basically taught myself to drive stick on this thing and all is good now and no my tranny didn't blow up lol. It just takes practice.

Word of warning though, if you try to get new rims at a dealer and the scratches won't be covered under warranty, each rim can easily cost well over a grand per rim so if you end up in that boat I'd look into some rim repair shops and see what they say.

Stop being mad at the kid for getting a car he did NOT choose. He asked for a beater and got this instead, not his fault his parents spoiled him rather then giving him a beater. yea I wish I had an SS at 16... but I'm sure this kid will learn to respect his car and take care of it very soon.

I have a 08 sport and I'm 17. I got it just about a year ago. There is not ONE scratch on the whole car. The interior is flawless. It looks like it just rolled out of the dealership. I take such good care of the car. My dad wouldnt buy me a used car and I beged him to get me a used ss/sc but he said nope, I want to buy new so I can get a warrenty. So I asked for a ss/tc. He was like, in your dreams bud. (my dad works for gm) So I got a brand new 08 sport when I asked for a CHEAPER USED cobalt! Weird how it turned out. But I'm very happy with my car.
