High Miles/Cheap price
This 05 has 81,000 miles. Would that be a concern for this make of car, or do they generally perform well once they get into higher miles as well

Well odds are its well out of warranty so unless your really car savvy, you going to be at a shop for most mechanical problems.
You need to remember your buying a inexpensive performance car. This means that it was not owned by some rich doctor who took it out on sunny days and drove it like a grandma. It was probably owned by a 16-25 year old guy who loved dropping the clutch and doing burnouts, but didn't have 35K to blow on a C5.
Cobalt SS's are not notorious for thier "Great reliability." Biggest problems Ive had is Clutch /tranny problems. I'm on my second Transmission due to a manufacture defect with the 2nd gear synchro, and the clutch was already showing wear at 10,xxx miles. Also just various clunks, squeaks, motor mounts and trim bezels falling off. Its probably been in for warranty service 12- 13 times and it has 24,000 miles on it
If your looking for a quick $10K car that will be really reliable at 80,000+, I'd suggest a RSx-s or a civic Si, personally. They wont be as fast but they will probably be less hassles.
Then again if you love the SS, Like we all do on this site, go for it. Drive it nice and pray nothing major breaks! best of luck!
P.S. Cobalt parts are ridiculous expensive

the ecotec is a stout, long lasting engine. The F35 is a good piece too, however, it will be the part needing work done between the two. A new clutch might be needed due to the above reasoning that the previous owner was probably my age (20), but otherwise, its not too different than a normal car
This car has been a good car for someone , it's warranty claim history is very clean
