Im getting my windows tinted tommorow im getting 50% front sides but the back three should i get 5%, 20% or 30% on the rear windows thanks, this will help me make up my mind.

Stick with what % is legal in your state...it will save you money down the road.

 

50% is useless IMO. I think 20 all the way around is good.

 

5%, but you might want to go 15%-20% on the front. 50% is pretty light but, at the same time at night 15% is a pain sometimes.

35% in the front...as dark as you can in the back

 

Putting more than the legal limit is stupid. Hell, I think even putting 5% everywhere else is stupid. Looking cool isn't worth running over someone at night cause you couldn't see a damn thing out your windows. I'd stick with atleast 15-20%

you should probably know these things before you make an appointment to get tinted.

5% is dark. really dark. so dark that it's actually pretty hard to see whats going on behind you at night.
i would stick with 20 or 35 on the rears. 35% is around what most cars come with when they're tinted from the factory.

No darker than 20 on any window. Get 20 all around or 20 on back 3 and clear fronts.

what color is your car and what are your state laws.

i live in nj and its illegal to tint your front windows i didn't even bother because cops here are dicks and will pull you over. i have a white cobalt so i went 15% and it looks plenty dark. 5% will be very dark at night and you pretty much won't be able to see out your windows. i also agree with 50% being useless.

i suggest going 5-15% in the back and like 35% on your fronts

Don't mixmatch the tint. It looks so stupid. Remember the cobalt is already "tinted" at 70% from the factory, so take that into account when you get the windows done.

Anything darker than 20% is overkill and will make nighttime driving a chore. 20% is sick, you can see out but can't really see in that well, both during the day and at night. I've been pulled over once but the cop was just checking to make sure I wasn't doing anything bad (which I wasn't). Don't let the law dictate what you can and cannot do to your own car, if you have nothing to hide then why not get it tinted how you want. If anything most places that tint it for you will write a receipt saying the tint is off if you ever get a ticket anyway, so it's not even a big deal at all.

In my area most cops know my car already so I don't get bothered. If I do I know a few officers that are high up in the PD so I just BS with them about it and they let me go, at least they have so far *knock on mad wood yo* Once they get to my car and see a skinny white kid driving they just say "yeah its illegal thats why I stopped you, have a good day" and they leave. I have some friends that are puerto rican and they get hassled all the time for their tint, and its only like 35% lmao. It's so bad here but I find it funny in a sense.

 

i've been in the window tinting business for many years and people mixmatch tint as you said and it looks fine. depending on what area you live in cops will pull you over for the tint especially if your a young kid because they just like to be dicks. some places will tint your front windows if it is illegal but they are doing so with you knowing that it is illegal and are not to be held accountable if you get a ticket and will charge you to have it removed.

i'm not trying to argue or start anything. i'm just trying to share my knowledge considering i've been around it long enough

 

I did 5% on the back 3 and 50% on the front 2. I know it's light but I think it looks good on the black balt. But doing 35 or 20 would look even better. I would say do 5% on the back 3, it looks killer!!

agreed i got 5 on the sides and 20 on the back, makes backing up at night alittle easier

 

i got 15 on the rears and 35 on the sides and its perfect. visibility is fine at night, i dont know what these other guys are talking about... and the sides are dark enough to look cool but not dark enough to get you noticed by the po-po (tinting side windows is illegal here)
