depressing clutch to floor bad??

on every shift i use to depress the clutch to the floor because for some reason it made me shift a lot smoother and what not. was told this will burn my clutch quicker so i stopped. my question is if this really is bad for your clutch?

no it isnt. no only is it not bad, but not pushing the clutch in far enough is very hard on the syncros. the key thing is not to have the rpm too high or low when you let the clutch out, and to let the clutch out as fast and smooth as you can without it jerking.

The proper way to shift IS to fully depress the clutch pedal to the floor. For normal shifting, the clutch motion should be almost binary: fully let out (off the flywheel) or fully engaged on the flywheel. For low-speed applications such as pulling into a parking spot or in very slow traffic (or in reverse), some clutch slippage is acceptable.
