CobaltHarv 03-31-2006, 07:25 PM Howdy all. I'm on VanIsle. I'm in for a meet. I could probably bring one other SS/SC owner. May I suggest a meeting at Long Beach (Tofino/Ucluelet), once it dries up a bit that drive is wicked awesome (especially in the morning when it's deserted) at about the end of June?) Cheers, victory_red_SS 03-31-2006, 07:39 PM Howdy all. I'm on VanIsle. I'm in for a meet. I could probably bring one other SS/SC owner. May I suggest a meeting at Long Beach (Tofino/Ucluelet), once it dries up a bit that drive is wicked awesome (especially in the morning when it's deserted) at about the end of June?) Cheers, Okay Harv do your drink at the Frontiersman? I saw a Blue SS there last summer when I was over visiting my Mom. I believe it was a Campbell River dealer sticker on the back. VANSS 03-31-2006, 07:40 PM I am guessing you were the one I saw on Pacific and behind me at Main. Yes the car is loud and on the race track at Mission (road course) it sounds mean going WOT.;) That would've been me. I recognized the fish on the back. And then I head the exaust and knew it had to be you. I would've tried to keep up but I was on my way to the Home Depot with the old lady and she doesn't like the speed as much as I do. Cheers, I'd love to go over to the island for a cruise. Its nice to get out of the traffic, I was over two weeks ago and it was nice and sunny. The ferry is pretty expensive though. Plus I wouldn't want my baby going down with the ship  victory_red_SS 03-31-2006, 07:46 PM ..... I would've tried to keep up but I was on my way to the Home Depot with the old lady and she doesn't like the speed as much as I do. Yes I noticed her in the passanger seat but she did seem amused at seeing another SS. I too have a wife that grabs the oh shit handle when I throw some foot to the pedal. I told her that we may have to think of someway for her to be prepared for the extra kick once stage 2 is in (I suggested Depends so I don't have to clean the seat) but all in all the wife is great with my toy.:) victory_red_SS 03-31-2006, 07:49 PM May I suggest a meeting at Long Beach (Tofino/Ucluelet), once it dries up a bit that drive is wicked awesome (especially in the morning when it's deserted) at about the end of June?) Cheers, this could work for me as long as those on this side of the water still want to get together over here too. I realize that not everyone can afford to go to the island. VANSS 03-31-2006, 07:51 PM Yes I noticed her in the passanger seat but she did seem amused at seeing another SS. I too have a wife that grabs the oh shit handle when I throw some foot to the pedal. She'll have to get used to it though. We're planning another drive up north this summer and I figure I can shave a couple hours off my PB of 21.5hrs. Have you been able to get an order in for stage 2 yet? victory_red_SS 03-31-2006, 08:01 PM ...Have you been able to get an order in for stage 2 yet? Yesterday morning at 8:45am. I phoned the parts guy in North Van at 8:15am and told him the parts were out. He had just got in and had not even turned his computer on yet. He was really surprised that I already knew. He did have to do a manual order (phoned in) and he phoned me back and said it was ordered and confirmed with that one phone call. Incredible_NATE 04-01-2006, 03:25 PM sup y'all? I'm a new member here, referred by PenguinPIE. I don't drive a Cobalt though, but instead drive an Acura Legend (RL) coupe. I'm a car though. Incredible_NATE 04-01-2006, 03:25 PM *car fan!! lol.. victory_red_SS 04-01-2006, 06:42 PM *car fan!! lol.. Glad you clarified that for us.:) Matty 04-01-2006, 06:51 PM *car fan!! lol.. Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 12:37 AM I could join the Cobalt SS team, but how will I fit in? Matty 04-02-2006, 12:51 AM I could join the Cobalt SS team, but how will I fit in? All ya have to do is trade up:cssNET:  victory_red_SS 04-02-2006, 12:56 AM All ya have to do is trade up:cssNET:  Matt is just joking. All Cobalts welcome.:cssNET: Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 12:59 AM Hahaha. Don't have a Cobalt... yet Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 01:00 AM Matt.. what's the 0 - 60 m.p.h. time on your Cobalt? Mid 6 seconds? Matty 04-02-2006, 01:07 AM Matt.. what's the 0 - 60 m.p.h. time on your Cobalt? Mid 6 seconds? They are rated at low 6 high 5's. Matty 04-02-2006, 01:09 AM Matt is just joking. All Cobalts welcome.:cssNET: Nate has an Acura. Had ta givem' the gears. ;) But ya all are welcome. Iy doesn't matter what ya ride in...long as ya love it. Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 01:24 AM Yup.. a manual Acura which sheds off a second from the automatic accleration. Manual is just more fun than automatic. Don't try it in stop and go traffic though. Went to the auto show yesterday. One thing not good about some models with the Cobalt is there is no arm rest to rest your arm while manual shifting. DJNateGnau 04-02-2006, 01:33 AM Trying to steal my name are ya?????? LOL! J/K! Anyhow, Welcome to the site, Nate. Least I'm not the only Nate here now. Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 01:37 AM I turn 18-years-old in 27 days. You drive a Cobalt Nate? I certainly don't and if you drive an Acura, that'll make me happy! If you drive a Legend coupe in 5-speed manual, I'll be even more happy! (which isn't likely) DJNateGnau 04-02-2006, 01:39 AM Actually, I need to update that, It's 19 days now. :) No, I don't drive a Cobalt, Or an Acura, Or any car for that matter, LOL. Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 01:44 AM haha.. love the animation! ;) DJNateGnau 04-02-2006, 01:46 AM Ah, Why thank you. victory_red_SS 04-02-2006, 01:49 AM ....One thing not good about some models with the Cobalt is there is no arm rest to rest your arm while manual shifting. Many of us just bought the armrest and installed them. Easy to do. PenguinPIE 04-02-2006, 03:53 AM Thanks Matt and Mason. you just gave away my real name! Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 03:58 AM Err.. pardon my apology! PenguinPIE 04-02-2006, 04:21 AM Err.. pardon my apology! its ok.... Incredible_NATE 04-02-2006, 04:22 AM Any difference between "high-intensity discharge gas headlamps" and "bi-xenon headlamps?" Someone asked me and claims that "bi-xenon headlamps" are different, but I think it's the same - just a different name. Paul Sandhu 04-02-2006, 05:33 AM I'm up for a meet in Long Beach. I'm from Port Alberni... although I live in Surrey right now. Not too many Cobalts around here. PenguinPIE 04-02-2006, 05:51 AM cool.....more cobalts = better :) CobaltHarv 04-03-2006, 11:27 AM Victory_Red: that's not me, no, but the guy has the same unit except with onstar. He's always parked there, at the Quinsam Hotel (Quinny) I talked to him once, I was getting gas at PetroCan across the street with my $500 gas card. It's funny because everyone thinks it's me, but surprizingly enough there's two of our same cars in the same area. I'm actually from Courtenay but work at both Tyee Chevrolet & Medium Duty Trucks in Campbell River as well as at Brian McLean Chevrolet in Courtenay. I commute up there a couple times a week so my car has lots of highway clicks on it. FYI between the two dealerships we have delivered a red one to someone from Campbell River, a Black one to someone from the North Island (Sayward or Zeballos I think) and then another black one to a tech from CR, mine, and the other blue one. We had one of those Sunburst Orange ones on the lot but dealer traded that to Parksville or Nanaimo. I know there's also a blue one in Port Alberni, at least one. I just took the ferry the other day it was $35 for car-n-driver from Tswassen to Duke Pt. (nanaimo) but that's offseason rates. I'm into meeting wherever but just thought Long Beach would make a nice photo op. spot as well as a nice long windey drive. I'm sure Kits Beach would also be cool. Cheers, g5mike 04-04-2006, 12:28 AM we should start looking at setting up a meet for the end of april, around the falsecreek area would be befitting...ala indy!!! Matty 04-04-2006, 12:36 AM we should start looking at setting up a meet for the end of april, around the falsecreek area would be befitting...ala indy!!! Sounds good. Getting a target date and location with a month notice should suffice. A good group car photo would be cool as well. g5mike 04-04-2006, 12:38 AM i just dropped a note to the vancouver area posters over at www.***************,asking them to come on over and give some input on a meet. Matty 04-04-2006, 12:52 AM How about Sunday April 30th? And we need a location. Suggestions???? victory_red_SS 04-04-2006, 12:56 AM I can make that work unless the car is in a million pieces(I am trying to get all the parts together for the 300hp build) g5mike 04-04-2006, 01:36 AM sounds good i work night shifts(milkman) i can make any date you guys come up with Matty 04-04-2006, 01:41 AM sounds good i work night shifts(milkman) i can make any date you guys come up with Milkman? You at Saputo? g5mike 04-04-2006, 01:56 AM no im at hfs, we service all the starbucks worldwide with about everything they need to operate g5mike 04-04-2006, 02:10 AM hey matty! i see you have sportlines, i had them on my vibe, anyways going into work everyday(annis island) the road is really rough and the vibe didnot like this, how does the balt ride on em and what do you figure there is give wise? Matty 04-04-2006, 02:30 AM hey matty! i see you have sportlines, i had them on my vibe, anyways going into work everyday(annis island) the road is really rough and the vibe didnot like this, how does the balt ride on em and what do you figure there is give wise? It is a bit stiffer. Speed bumps are now one sharp bump instead of two. I love the way it dropped it though. REALLY glad I got them!! The stiffer ride is well worth it. And it is more stable in the corners as well...even though it was ok with the stock springs. I can live with it on normal roads easily. PenguinPIE 04-04-2006, 02:33 AM how much did it cost you to drop it matty? Matty 04-04-2006, 02:47 AM how much did it cost you to drop it matty? It is about an hour to hour and a half labour. So whatever deal you can get from a shop ;) Got the springs from Modern Performance. About $320 or so CAD at the door. g5mike 04-04-2006, 02:50 AM 450.00 h&r springs, drop and alienment at b.c. tires and automotive, they did my vibe and the alienment was better than when i drove it off the lot. g5mike 04-04-2006, 01:45 PM matty when i dropped my vibe i still had about 2 inches of room to the strut what do the balts have left over afterwards? Matty 04-04-2006, 02:24 PM matty when i dropped my vibe i still had about 2 inches of room to the strut what do the balts have left over afterwards? Your talking underneath? If so, I never looked at the spacing before or after. PenguinPIE 04-04-2006, 03:29 PM so....april 30th? <- sounds awsome coz no more exams for me  place?.... when?.... g5mike 04-05-2006, 01:50 PM lets do it!!! PenguinPIE 04-06-2006, 05:12 PM where do you guys feel like going?? Matty 04-06-2006, 05:25 PM Doesn't matter to me where we end up (within reason of course) Maybe a park...we could have a picnic. Victory Red SS could make sandwiches. I make a pretty mean iced tea....:wtf:  PenguinPIE 04-06-2006, 11:42 PM hahaha sounds cool.......as long as its sunny.....im happy victory_red_SS 04-07-2006, 01:10 AM I just found out that friends from my wife's work are throwing her a suprise bithday party on the 30th until about 4pm. Anychance we can do this at like 4:30pm? There should still be plenty of sunshine. g5mike 04-07-2006, 01:13 AM lets do it! Matty 04-07-2006, 01:14 AM Or the next weekend after the 30th. No matter to me, I am not busy till the summer. g5mike 04-07-2006, 01:15 AM four responses, comeon guys we can do better than this more peaple more fun, maybe a little tailgate barbie? r_fiorda49 04-07-2006, 01:20 AM I'm down for whatever guys :cssNET: I just need some notice, especially if it's a sunday cuz i usually work :thumbsdow But it's very flexible so if i have a weeks notice i can usually bail. Where we gonna do it tho??? I was thinkin' if you guys don't mind more of a day-trip type thing, we could maybe do the Whistler drive...i've biked it before and it's really nice. I'm not sure what the highway is like since the construction but it might be something to look into. -Rob g5mike 04-07-2006, 01:31 AM damn that sounds great should have my springs on by then, i never leave home without my radar detector when heading out that way anyways we get a little more concensus we should be able to nail this down, like i said i can do this anyday i just bail from work victory_red_SS 04-07-2006, 02:01 AM Just a heads up guys. Mothers day is the first sunday in may. So for the younger or married with kids this may not be the day to play with the boys. Again there is plenty of time to plan and I can get away on the first Sunday in may. And a road trip is cool as well. Matty 04-07-2006, 02:07 AM Well everyone throw there date suggestions into the hat. I vote Sunday May 7. Mom's day is the 14th so no worries there. After we get a date we will figure out a spot or cruise or whatever??? g5mike 04-07-2006, 02:50 AM i predict good wheel weather im good for may 07 victory_red_SS 04-07-2006, 09:07 AM Okay so I was wrong. May 7th it is. Write this on the calanders evryone. The only thing that can go wrong for me is if the car is in the shop. I should know next week when the build starts. PenguinPIE 04-07-2006, 10:46 AM doesnt matter what day to me.....ill have 4 months of nothing to do ahead   stupid1 04-08-2006, 02:01 PM Hey guys! I'll do my best to make it out. Saw your message on the other forum G5. PenguinPIE 04-09-2006, 02:24 AM so......i guess we're gonna meet at ....vancouver? may 7th..... 9am?  Matty 04-09-2006, 05:49 PM Well I am going to go ahead and book that day off from work. ( May 7 ). Everyone good with that day??? Any thoughts on a locale? We could meet up for a brainstorm at a Timmy Ho's. g5mike 04-09-2006, 06:24 PM lets go with may 07, and now we can work in generating interest even outside of the forum, i notice some guys in my area with ss/sc, got to get the word out. when i was back on the vibe/matrix forums they had these flyers you could print out some members were flyer whores they go around putting them on these cars everywhere it sure does generate interest for the forum. Paul Sandhu 04-10-2006, 01:38 AM I've heard of the Blue one in Port Alberni. If you ever see a Black 05 LS there... it might be mine. Cheers, well im the guy who has the victory red ss/sc in campbell river , i read here but dont usally post, but if a island meet is in the makings count me in . g5mike 04-12-2006, 07:22 PM thanks fiorda, ill be printing it out im a whore for this stuff! (Just a suggestion) A drive to Squamish would be fine but we need to confirm that traffic is not affected (by construction) on Sundays.
