Hahn 3" Cat-Back T/C question...

So how many people have JUST the Cat-back and stock DP....

I don't really want to mess with the DP just kinda want the whole system 3" and more for sound than the power....I realize i'm not really getting a whole lot of power, but the Hahn has the sound i'm looking for....not too much louder over stock and not 2.0 raspy.

QUESTION for those with just cat-back>

Any problems or issues without having a tune done...i figure that the stock DP wouldn't allow for any boost spike.....and I was assured by Hahn's Techie's that with the testing they did no issues arose....

I also notice on the stock "over-axle" portion, our cars have a sort of heat shield placed on top fo the exhaust made from a fabric material....it doesn't look like the Hahn has this....is this an issue...i didn't get a chance to see what the shield was blocking heat from...

Thanks for answering!

With just the catback you wont get much if anything at all because its the DP thats restrictive

i dont beleive you will have a problem but honestly if you want a nice sound i would get the DP with the highflow cat that hahn offers with the cat-back that would sound great. and you would make some gains. The DP will give more sound i think then the cat-back. On my other car i had i added the cat-back and got a little better sound out of it and then after i added the hi-flow cat DP it got a little lower but sporty all at once and it got a little louder too.

I have just the Hahn cat back with stock dp...it sounds like a low purr ...not much louder than stock. You only notice it when you pull - and even then all you will get is a low rumble.

I am not tuned yet...but hopefully shortly. I am also changing out the dp with a CIA dp for a little more noise and power....

You will like the Hahn cat back, but you probably will not be satisified with the noise level...I suggest biting the bullet and changing out the dp as well... I have a feeling you are worried about warranty but you only have one for a few years anyway.....

Have you noticed anything unusual without a tune...any unusual boost pressures or engine flubs....?

As for the sound I just want a little louder than stock and I also notice that the Hahn has more higher RPM sound whereas the stock muffler is setup neutrally once you rev it the sound sorta dies off...?

I got the extended warranty haha!

^^^ Nope, no engine flub or unusual boost pressure... the catback acts just like stock.

You will get a little louder than stock out of it. At idle it just purrs and when you rev the engine it changes to a low rumble....it doesn't really die off per se...but the noise does plateau at the higher rpms...

What to like: It is a beautiful piece of equipment - I almost didn't want to put it on... It also doesn't sound ricer at all... Just nice and low... btw - you can't hear it inside of the car...even when you rev the engine...

What I don't like: Actually nothing about the cat back itself... The install was a pain but only because I had to have the stock exhaust cut in half in order to get it out (there is a bracket/brace that holds the stock exhaust up in addition to the hanging brackets)... Also, it isn't quite loud enough... hence changing the dp...

Let's put it this way... my husband has a stage 2 WRX with a COBB exhaust... my cobalt is no where near that loud... I would really like to get the sound level between where it is now and his exhaust sound level.... If I could get it to the point where I could hear it inside the car just a little while doing a pull I will be happy...

i have the extended warranty as well. But honestly i keep all my stock parts just in case lol so all i have to do is just slap them back on. The Ram/Cool Air intake by hahn will alter your exhaust sound too right? Also i guess hahn is supposed to come out with a header for our cars by like fall from what rubotech racing told me.
