Update *Pics*Potenza RE-11's and have a few questions for my SS/TC brothers!

*I posted this in the Wheel and tire section, just wanted to ask all of you with SS/TC as well!

Hey guys i have a 08 SS/TC and i'm wanting to put some new tires on her. I'm really leaning towards the RE-11's they just came out and they seem amazing from what i have read on the bimmer forums and whatnot. So my question is this, for anybody running the RE01's or even the Dunlop Star Spec tires, how long did they last? Most of my driving will be street with some track events.

Another question that might have been discussed already is my stock size is 225/40/18, i'm wondering if i could use a 235/40/18 and have no issues such as rubbing and overall just correct fitment on my stock rims.

Thanks in advance guys/gals.

Oh and for anybody wondering what the tire is here is a link:

Others have used 245/40/18 with no rubbing as long as you are not lowered. I had a set of RE-01Rs on my GTO they wore very well actually and they had decent grip.

Kumho Ecsta XS's are another alternative. Should have a similar soft compound and comes in the factory size (225/40/18).

Going with a soft tire like that for the summer, I'd probably expect them to last 10,000 miles or so depending on how tough you are on them. If you're looking for something that'll last a touch longer, the Ecsta MX's are the next step down.

If you are nice to the Potenza RE-01Rs you can expect appox 30K-35K miles out of them.

Do you guys think that the RE-11 might be overkill? I"m sure that that and the Yokohama Advan KD08 are going to be the two best tires out this year.

Well i have them on order and i will hopefully have them on Friday, i will let you guys know how they turn out. They are suppose to be the best tire you can get right now.

I ran the RT-615's on my GT2860RS miata around the sebring short course, it was fun running circles around the bimmer club that day. I mostly use them for AUTO-X though good tire, and civil on the street. They warm up super quick too

I got the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus put on about 3k miles ago - Im very impressed. MUCH better grip than stock, handles wet really well (hard rain, 80-90mph no problem), and slush ok as well...

and has a 45k mile warranty...

But there are better for max grip if you dont care about replacing tires every 10k miles...

If you ask me you can never have too much grip. It can save your life if you need to brake hard and swerve to avoid an accident.

If anybody is considering the Potenza RE-11 dont hesitate at all! What an amazing tire. Depending on how you treat them you could get about 25-30k out of it. I was thinking today though, i have nothing to go up to unless i go with a R or S spec tire haha.
