Questions on 09 SS/TC: battery, charge air pipe, paint

I just went to a dealer to look at a 09 SS/TC and paid attention to some of the problems other owners have mentioned.

The charge air pipe fell out of the "stud" and the salesperson didn't know anything about a TSB (PIP-4485). I wasn't sure if it was a bolt or stud, but I popped it back into place. It seemed like they changed it into a rubber grommet so that it would just clip onto a stud. Nonetheless, the plastic charge air tube was rubbing against the A/C line. That looks like a problem down the road. Has anyone found a sure-fire fix for this? I popped it back into place in front of the salesperson.

I looked closely at the paint under the door where it meets the weather striping, and lo and behold, I see some of the paint has come off. Since the car only has 19 miles on the odometer, it couldn't have "worn" off. I suspect the people at Lordstown just shut the door without waiting for the paint to cure.

Do ALL of the SS/TC's have the battery in the trunk? This particular SS/TC had just the inflator kit (which is awesome BTW) and a battery in the back. This HAD to be the work of someone that was into racing (Heinricy perhaps?) because of the benefits in weight distribution.

the paint is warranty no matter wat, if u like that car, make them fix the paint before you buy it and also SPECIFICALLY note that there was a problem and they fixed it and that if anything else goes wrong with the paint they promise to fix it IMMEDIATELY and not dick u around type deal.

The battery is standard in the trunk of ALL cobalts, even the very base models.

The charge piping is a VERY easy fix, if u haven't already seen my post in the other thread u posted in, go back and check page one of that, zip ties are the fix and they do a wonderful job keeping the charge piping in place until aftermarket ones can be afforded and installed ect.

Good call on the warranty thing. It'd be interesting to see how much lower of a price I can get if I make them do all the work first.

Find out about the rear brakes. I also had a fuel pressure sensor go bad at 9000 miles.

i wouldn't count on a lower price, i would make them sign something that shows they fixed it and if it's EVER a problem again they'll fix it or replace the car entirely with another of the same unit.

Why would your salesman know about a service PIP or TSB? Most people, even technicians, would not know about the TSB's on vehicles or the PIP documents unless they have a customer with the vehicle that has encountered the problem. The Service managers get the emails from GM with the document numbers and info but that info is hardly ever relayed down to the techs or the salesman.

Dealerships can not fix NEW cars (and most used cars) under warranty if the car is not sold. Warranty on a new car doesn't start until the vehicle is sold first. So any vehicles that is damaged will stay damaged until it is sold. Then it can be repaired by warranty.

If the dealer fixes it before it's sold, the dealer will have to pay for all repairs themselves unless it is a Service Update.

Thanks. I'll just keep an eye on these areas when my order arrives.
