Simple question. If you install an off-road downpipe say from Hahn or CIA, will it through a CEL code? Or do you need to install a catted one? Thanks in advance.

If you don't mine me asking, how loud is it? How about the sound?

I have the dejon sri and I'm debating on ordering the catless DP from hahn tomorrow, i just need to be sure its not super ricey loud....

i like it with the stock catback

not ricey at all, very deep tone

a little raspy when you first jump on it

go with the hahn, great product, you won't be dissapointed

Is it hard to do yourself?

I'd more likely just want to take it somewhere but is it difficult to get a shop to do it since it's "offroad use only"?

not hard at all with a 15mm socket, 15mm wrench and a woble ext

they make a special socket to take off the o2 sensor, i have one and hate it

i use a small pipe wrench and it came off real easy

prob take 30 mins or so on jack stands

the CIA seems to have the same o2 sensor chamber that hahn originally came up with so i am sure it does them same

They are very similar. I think the only difference is the location of the cat

without a cat 99% sure you will get a cel, unless the engine puts out very few HCs and NOs, which is unlikely.
the rear o2 tells the ecm that the convertor is working

No codes, as the O2 sensor "chamber", as it has been called, basically fools the pcm. It's an idea which has been used for many years by many companies for many different cars. It just seems new to the Cobalt community.
