Simple question. If you install an off-road downpipe say from Hahn or CIA, will it through a CEL code? Or do you need to install a catted one? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. glhs379 03-14-2009, 07:05 PM no cel from the hahn one i have had it on for miles and miles and no code FakeWhiteMan 03-14-2009, 07:45 PM no cel from the hahn one i have had it on for miles and miles and no code If you don't mine me asking, how loud is it? How about the sound? I have the dejon sri and I'm debating on ordering the catless DP from hahn tomorrow, i just need to be sure its not super ricey loud.... TurboTechRacing 03-14-2009, 08:49 PM No CEL from the Hahn non catted DP :) glhs379 03-14-2009, 11:43 PM i like it with the stock catback not ricey at all, very deep tone a little raspy when you first jump on it go with the hahn, great product, you won't be dissapointed Zander916 03-15-2009, 12:26 AM Is it hard to do yourself? I'd more likely just want to take it somewhere but is it difficult to get a shop to do it since it's "offroad use only"? glhs379 03-15-2009, 09:10 AM not hard at all with a 15mm socket, 15mm wrench and a woble ext they make a special socket to take off the o2 sensor, i have one and hate it i use a small pipe wrench and it came off real easy prob take 30 mins or so on jack stands fredds-turbaltSS 03-15-2009, 01:44 PM anyone no if the CIA catless DP throws a code? glhs379 03-15-2009, 03:37 PM the CIA seems to have the same o2 sensor chamber that hahn originally came up with so i am sure it does them same umrdyldo 03-15-2009, 04:20 PM the CIA seems to have the same o2 sensor chamber that hahn originally came up with so i am sure it does them same They are very similar. I think the only difference is the location of the cat JimzSS 03-15-2009, 04:26 PM without a cat 99% sure you will get a cel, unless the engine puts out very few HCs and NOs, which is unlikely. the rear o2 tells the ecm that the convertor is working ClearImageAuto Dan 03-15-2009, 05:25 PM No codes, as the O2 sensor "chamber", as it has been called, basically fools the pcm. It's an idea which has been used for many years by many companies for many different cars. It just seems new to the Cobalt community. |
